What you're looking for is a club. Teampromotion.com, NESBA.com and REDUC.com are in the area. There is a group that runs New Hampshire too but I don't know their site. edited by sportsman on December 08, 2003 |

TPM and NESBA runs some good track days. TPM a bit more relaxed (read less efficient) than NESBA. The tracks within striking distance of NY Metro area are Pocono (don't do North course), Beaver Run in PA, VIR on the border to NC, Summit Point in W. Virginia, Loudon in NH. Most of these obviously are a trek and we usually do two track day weekends to make the trip worth it. VIR absolutely ROCKS!! though. I especially like North course, but South is great as well. Depending on how far north you are, Mosport (??) in Canada may be an option as well. A google search should get the websites of these tracks for you. Henrik |

I can vouch for VIR North.. That is a great place to ride.. I took a school there and think I have to go back again sometime.. soon.. Has anyone got any experience with NESBA or TPM? I don't want to have to take my bike away from street legal, so the minimum changes (read quick return to street) are what I'm looking for, I'm not looking to be a pro race, just a better street rider. Any thoughts of info would be appreciated.. Thanks Later, |

Both actually Both clubs run a good track day. If you're more "club" oriented and in the PA area, TPM is a good bet. Everyone is out to have a good time and a few of the control riders will try to give you pointers on your technique. Mostly if you ask for it though. NESBA run a very tight ship (I like that; organized, safe, efficient), and have some really great track days. Their control riders do a great job of keeping the speeds proper for the group you're riding in, and very efficiently minimize traffic piling up behind slower riders. They also do quite a bit of on-track instruction (not a school, but still) - showing you the line around the track etc. Both clubs have merit. If I were to pick only one I'd likely go with NESBA. As far as keeping your bike streetable - my SV track bike is perfectly street legal still. I've just safety wired a handful of things and on track I tape over all light lenses. Works well. Ideally I'd like to be able to pull off headlight and taillight with some sort of quick disconnect system, but it's so far turned out to be more of a chore than it's worth. Now, there's an idea for the new Buells: make it a 2-bolt job to remove lights for track days. Both headlight and taillight. One-up Yamaha, where only the taillight is easily removable. Henrik |

Nesba gets my vote also. I'v been a member for over three years and haven't had a bad experience yet. |
