That kind of messy work should not be allowed to be un answered. That dealer needs to fix what they did. If they don't, I would let them know that you will consult a lawyer. Seriously, that's BS. |

The big difference between the CH and Nomar, if you look at the pics above, is the rim grabbers. Nomar uses a set of wooden blocks that press against the rim to hold it, while the CH uses these spindle things that grab onto the lip. Great in theory, except the mounts are very easy to move. As you are naturally wrestling the tire on/off, the mount pops out of the socket and lets go of the wheel. The only way I found to get around that was to tighten them to the point I actually stripped it. Worst part? When you are using the mounting par and applying clockwise/counter clockwise pressure, the rim rotates on the machine. I contacted Nomar about that requesting to purchase wooden blocks, as I never had any issue with them, they told me they aren't compatible with the CH changer, and that they use the rim grabbing things without issue in their shop. Don't buy the cycle hill, it is aggravating garbage, but the full on Nomar is a good unit. I'll continue using my cycle hill for a few more months then get a nice electric/air powered unit. |

Each block also has "4 sides" that are just a bit different in dimension so it's easy to get a set-up that holds the wheel by the lip securely and with an easy mount/dismount on the changer. Like you said, the nomar is a nice unit. |

sigh. Classic is just so damned big, and needs to be permamounted...... well will take the drive on base, but that just makes it larger to store (Message edited by sprintst on October 27, 2011) |

CH is about the same size. The Nomar has the arm that comes over, so it is taller. Both require either permamount, trailer hitch mount, or drive on base. I use the drive on base due to not being able to do it any other way.

OT - Tim, I quit High Country 3 months ago. My neighbor offered me a job as a mechanic/electrician with more $$. I ride with him too, so no fuel costs for work... Z |

A friend has the Cycle Hill changer and I use it periodically. I just changed the rear on my 1125R a couple weeks ago using it. Froggy is right about the wheel spinning when using the mounting bar two "wrestle" the tire on or off of the rim, even when the mounting tabs are really tight. It's kind of a pain, but it can be worked around, and if there's a helper to hold the wheel, it's a non-issue. For the price savings compared to the NoMar, I think it's worth the Cycle Hill changer. Once I build an additional garage, I'm getting a tire changer to go in it. |

I have my Nomar stand on a 3/4" thick sheet of exterior plywood, the stand does not have to be perminant works ok I put it in the middle of one long edge so the sheet will stand on edge which saves space for storage.. |

The very first tire change the HD/Buell dealer damaged the rear rim. I started going to an IL4 place and they scratched front and rear. My poor bike has got scratches from the monkeys that pretend to be mechanics all over the rims now. And the latest insult was dents and scratches on the hub from a bearing R&R. I've given up on it. They will NEVER admit damaging a rim. You would have to take date stamped macro photos of every area to get them to admit to causing the damage. |

The no-mar has a trailer hitch option also. I built a floor mount to use in the garage to go with it.
