Well im putting the high bars back in because i couldnt get the shorter throttle cables to work without binding up and they wouldnt allow the throttle to snap back right away so i just got done routing the cables and everything is going smoothly and i go to put the bottom of the air box in and all of a sudden its not snapping back and is binding up somewhere but i dont know where or why, its VERRY frustrating and i want it fixed but dont know what to do, and im not taking it to the dealer for them to go charge me 100/hr for something that could be a simple fix. Im calling out of work today to get this done so any insight would be VERY appreciated!!!!! | ||

Is the small hose on the right side of the throttle bodies binding up on the linkage? That seems to be the most problematic most of the time. Make sure it's pulled up into the airbox about 3/4 of an inch and see if that helps | ||

I had this problem on my R right before the Indy GP. It drove me crazy trying to find and when I did I thought to myself damn Buell some of your genius ideas are retarded. On the left side of you air box you will see the assembly the cable that allows the throttle to snap back. If you look at the linkage a little to the right it may be binding on the main wire harness that runs down the left side of the frame. In my case the harness backed out of the guard and under the linkage this is a small black bolt (you will be able to see it) that was catching on the harness and not allowing it to close 100% I cut the rest of the useless harness guard off including a small square piece that was the main factor. I then pushed the harness back down and took a small battery terminal end and put in on the bolt the the barametric pressure sensor with the rod end facing the to the left. It holds the harness down just enough to allow the throttle to snap back 100%. I know this is a lot of information with no pictures up. If its to confusing PM and I will try to help. a) The hose on the rt side of the pix needs to be "pulled up" into the air box so about 1/2 - 3/4" is protruding above the "boss" that it fits into...TIP: remove the hose - grinds a slight taper on the end that goes up into the airbox with a bench grinder ( like you're sharpening a punch) - it helps "start the hose" up into the boss of the giant "grommet" that seals the airbox from the engine...pull the hose up into the air box with some needle nose pliers. b) the wire/cable "clamp" is not in the pix it would be in the lower left of the pix if it was - check to see if the wire harness/cable clamp is interfering with throttle linkage c) you might want to remove the solenoid from the "system" - search for "solenoid removal" on this site....it will simplify the linkage system and prevent a possible "surprise" in 3rd gear. | ||

 That is the linkage part the was giving me trouble. Work the throttle while watching that and you many find your problem. | ||

I believe I found the problem to be the seal that goes around the throttle bodies and in the air box, the top right part of it was rubbing against the linkage on the right (that connects the throttle bodies through the solenoid linkage) I trimmed about a half inch off in a bout a 2 inch strip so it's still functional but now doesn't get in the way of the linkage. I have everything back together and just got dine bleeding the caliper. Thanks for your help Russ I appreciate it! Also if any one is interested I am selling the clubman bars and all the hardware (cables, lines, banjo nuts and washers). I'm glad this is finally over lol biggest pain in the ass ever. | ||
