25543-02 part number when my bike calls for a 25543-06 part number. what is the difference and can i make it work? |

that link didnt really tell me anything. something about machining something on a lathe and he wants to put a newer style one on an older bike... i want to put the 05 version on the 06... can it be done? |

the 05 has a smaller shifter shaft so the primary cover does as well. I know there have been discussion on replacing the shifter shaft assembly to make it work but no it wont bolt right up. |

You will have to change the shifter shaft if you want to use the 2005 cover on your 2006 model. The diameter of the shifter shaft was larger on the 2006 and up models. That part is a relatively easy part to replace. The other option would be to measure the diameter of a 2005 and older shaft, and turn your shaft down to that diameter. If you decide not to go this route and want to part with the 05 cover, please PM me. |
