Please let me know if this has already been posted, but I cannot find it. I was pulling into a parking spot and my bike cut out, I assumed it was just me taping the clutch or something so I went to work. When I came out the cluster was still asking for the code with the clock at 0:00 (I have it set to prompt for theft). So I enter the code and the says correct code, and freezes there... I had no tools and could'nt get it to stop so I pulled the battery fuse and put it back in, and now... nothing works except the headlights. no sign of life with the cluster, no relays, no fuel pump. So far I've checked the kill switch, all the fuses, the main chassis ground (not sure where the others are), the battery connections, the ECM connections, and I did try jumping it (the lights stay at the same brightness regardless of what I'm doing). I have access to tools and multimeter, etc if I push my bike like half a mile so thats doable... Please let me know if this is above my head, I'm decent enough with cars but still kinda new to motorcycle repair, but it's a 100 euro just to get it to the dealership and like 120 an hour or some crazyness. Any help is appreciated, thanks. (Message edited by Cheaty on October 17, 2011)-- fixed Edit: replaces battery about 2 months ago. Also any feedback is appreciated, bike is my primary vehicle... Charge your battery. Trouble with theft codes is oft related to system voltage. May be time for a new battery, I still have my original. Loretta will be 4 years old next month and my experience selling parts, these batteries last 4-6 years as a rule. Zack |

Check the ECM connectors too, I'd have suggested checking the ignition switch (a known issue) but as the lights come on it's "unlikely" to be that (but still a possibility). As nothing changed when you tried jumping it it's again "unlikely" to be the battery, but iy may be worth disconnecting the bike battery and connectingt he jump leads to the cables on the bike (bypassing the battery) just to be certain. |

Have you had the theft lock turned on? That will drain a battery double-quick. Do you have a battery tender? If not, get one and plug it in every time you park the bike. |

Tried rotating the handlebars with the key on, nothing. Tried messing with the ground with the key on, nothing Ecm connectors are tight and clean. Changed battery ~1.5 months ago. |

wild guess - there is a "relay box" back by the battery...a box with (4) relays in it - it has a cover over it - kinda looks like a fuse box...3 are white and 1 is black - the black one controls the headlights and starter..it is used on the HD V-rod model and has a history of failing - it is available at Auto stores you may want to pull it out ( the black one) and take it with you to the auto parts store find a "after market" relay that will fit and has a similar function ( Head light control) here in the US it costs about $12... I know you say your head lights are working - but this relay (black) may not have anything to do with headlights on the Buell, but MAY have everything to do with starting. for reference - the black Relay is built by Tyco in Mexico. |

In case your not able to understand that for any reason look at the wires at the bottom of your keyswitch. They are problematic the solder breaks |
