Can anyone tell me the belt on a 96 S2 is the same as the 99 X1. I believe mine has a 128T

Thank you

All tubers did use the same belt.

It's interesting to note that the '04 - up standard length XB belt matches the tuber belt and seems to hold up fine as a replacement.

FWIW,

but don't forget - '03 and earlier XB had a different tooth pitch. Not just "they aren't as good"...but the teeth won't line up with the sprockets.

(says the guy with an OEM "Sportster" belt on his '95 S2...)

There was an earlier XB?

Standard length belt - so NOT the belt for the Ss or the STT.

Hotowl,

Did you know that the FIRST HALF of the XB style engine came out in the BLAST in 2000 ???

That's wrong on so many levels.

The Sportster printed belt wasn't even OEM on a Buell, S2 or otherwise...

Buell thought it shouldn't say Sportster, so we got a sample length of belt with the other option printed in different colors to select the least offensive looking (i.e. least noticeable) bar and shield logo.

Buell Belt Printing

A new part number - but physically the same as a Sportster belt,

The MAIN reason "i" am running a SPORTSTER BELT on my BUELL is at the time the local Dealers were saying SPORTSTER parts would not fit on a BUELL ...

OK, so there are no pre-03 XBs. Sue me, I still remember being at the '02 Daytona bike week demos and being told not to pass the lead rider.

Pass him? We couldn't even SEE him!!!!

So...I forget sometimes lol.

I'd swear my belt says Sportster. Maybe it's just the B&S. Have to look next time I'm in the garage...

Lets say it this way !!!

There were some XB's that had a different tooth pitch ...

There were some XB's(some had a longer wheel base) the the 128T SPORTSTER Drive Belt would work on ...

The BUELLers on the XB AREA would
know this, so ask them ...

The BLAST Drive Belt has 128T, "BUT" a narrow BELT so "i" think the SPORTSTER Belt would work on it if you up'ed the HORSE POWER/TORQUE ...

Just jerking your chain rat : )

1313, you sure? My stock belt (99X1) said Sportster on it. The replacement belt I put on it said Buell on the box, and had Sportster printed on the belt. I've since replaced that belt with another Buell belt. I'm not sure what it has on it.

But I remember showing my dad my new bike, and telling him it was a sportster based engine. "See, it even says Sportster on the belt"
