I'm a long time reader, but a new member. I'm hoping to get some help..

A few weeks ago, while a few hundred miles from home, I found myself without any blinkers and tail lights on my '09 Ulysses. At first, if I turned the bike on, they might work for the entire rider, but as soon as I turned the bike off, they wouldn't work the next time I started it. Fortunately, the brake light works.

At first, I was thinking that the flasher relay or the flasher control on the bars had crapped out, but I'm doubtful because the tail light was also effected at the same time.

My next step is the dealer, but I'm sure it's something simple.

Anyone had this happen or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!!

Gosh if I had a manual. I wish I had all the manuals but cannot afford them. It would make it a lot easier to troubleshoot. Please get one as I am sure someone you know can read the one lines and get you close to the problem and also teach you basics.

I've got a copy of the service manual and the wiring diagrams. Is there a specific diagram that would be useful to look at. Since it's in a PDF format, I can easily turn a few pages into TIFF files and post them.

My money is on the ignition switch. The ignition switch has two outputs - one is for the bits that are powered in the 'Park' position and the other is for everything else (yes, the blinkers do operate with the switch in the 'Park' position).

The other thing that you will be missing is the licence plate light (also the front parking light if it is fitted). I had this exact symptom on my '06 12X and looking at the '09 diagram this part of the wiring is pretty much the same.

Try wiggling the ignition switch slightly when you have the failure - if it comes good then the switch is really looking guilty. The good news is that it may be readily repaired.
Here is a link to how I did that on my '06 - I imagine the '09 ignition switch is pretty much the same.

Rays. I think you've got it. No tail light, no blinker, and just checked today and found out no plate light either. Had the wife pick up a tamper-proof t45 socket today on her way home from work.

Will give it a run in the AM.

Will give an update soon. Thanks all.
