While adding fuel injector cleaner I dropped the gasket seal of the cap (the thin flat round piece of paper/foam material) into the gas tank of my 2003 XB9S. I'm talking about that wafer thin thing that is often loose inside the bottle cap of these things. I can't see it or get to it. I don't know if it floats. What to do? I am afraid of it eventually getting to the fuel filter or something else and blocking the fuel flow. Any solutions? Is this anything to worry about? Can I ignore it? What to do? I don't know much about the construction of the fuel tank and fuel system. |

I hate those things. Get another bottle of the same stuff, take off the gasket material, and see if it floats in gas. You can always use the stuff up later on anyway. If it floats, fill the fuel tank up to the top, then retrieve the offending object. If it doesn't float, you'll need to pull the fuel pump (after draining the tank, of course). You should be able to get it out through the bottom of the tank where the fuel pump is located. |

Before you pull anything apart, I'd suggest draining the tank, letting it dry out thoroughly, then reach in with a flexible hose attached to an air compressor and see if you can just blow the little thing out through the filler. rt |

Or it may have dissolved ? |

Doubt it dissolved; it's made of stuff strong enough to hold back a strong solvent. You should be able to ride with confidence, however. The fuel filter is on the other side of the fuel pump, which has a gauze screen around its intake hose. I like Ulynut's suggestion about floating it out and Road thing's air hose idea.
