That is a HARLEY-DAVIDSON Part Number ... It fits a 1996 and later XL1200(until they changed the plug in pin numbers so you have to count them) ... It will fit a BUELL if the plug in pin numbers are the same ... |

All this talk about ignition modules reminds me of a little experiment that Gary Valine and I did on the Buell Motorcycle Company dyno. Since it happened 13 years ago I'm guessing all parties involved are no longer concerned...or at least look back on it now and laugh it off... The previous winter I had replaced my S2's flywheels with the lightened flywheels from the S1, installed Thunderstorm heads and pistons, the complete race exhaust and 3" thick air filter. Since the winter before saw the Lightning cams, I now had completely Thunderstormed my S2's engine. I had asked Gary about the 6,800 rpm race ignition module and asked if it was worth the expense with my setup. His response was "I have a race ignition module in my area, bring it back over to the dyno someday and we can do a comparison." or thereabouts. So the stars aligned and I had a few moments of free time as well did Gary. I take my S2 to the dyno room and Gary puts it up on the dyno. We run the baseline with the 6,200 rpm S1 ignition module I run to this day. All is well, numbers are recorded. Next step, we swap out to the 6,800 rpm race ignition module. We're getting ready to run this setup and who should walk into the dyno room, but Erik. My heart sank thinking I was just about to receive my walking papers (working on personal stuff was a big no-no...) and Erik inquisitively asked Gary what he was up to. Cool as a cucumber Gary responds, "I just wanted to see how a converted bike responds to the race ignition module." Gary's answer - which, really, if you think about it was 100% true - satisfied Erik. Erik left the dyno room and Gary and I continued with our little experiment. WHEW!!! The results of that experiment, you ask? Peak hp and peak torque were no different between the 2 ignition modules on my Thunderstormed S2. Since it made no difference in my peak numbers, and I've always treated the S2's throttle like an off-on switch, I couldn't justify the expense of the 6,800 rpm race ignition module. My thought was that it would just cut engine life for me. Of the 117,000 miles currently on my S2, only 81,000 of them have been with this engine combination - but I still feel I made the right choice by not going with the 6,800 rpm race ignition module. Of course, if your riding style can take advantage of the extra rpm's in each gear, your assessment might be different. One data point - and where'd my 2 cents go? 1313 |

Thanks Brankin!!! My concern is Right Timing Curve for thunder Stormed S2T engine.RPMS I Know Stress the engine I don,t even like to dyno to me had that done at 69,000 mile on S2T it tested 60 hp and 68 ft pounds @ 5200RPMS.To me I had to know but do not like to put my engine to that much stress but had to know It was Free .Great Story Our Creator Erik is not all work and no play. And Good men do have privileges!!!!! BUELLers: PERFORMANCE ENHANCERS ARE UP-DATES IN: CORRECT TIMING Headers Muffler Cams Valves(springs, collars, and keepers) Flowing of Intake and Exhaust Ports Carburetor or Throttle Body "SIZE" Richer jetting or Richer Fuel Mapping Gearing AND last but not lease the IGNITION MODULE !!! You have to tune for each of these !!! IMHO if you just plug in a HOT IGNITION MODULE with out tuning for the ADDITIONAL RPM that it gives, you are just wasting your money on said module !!! "BUT" a completely TUNABLE PN 32654-98, IMHO would be worth the money !!! "THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS" |

B-nutz, that part number 32654-98 looks exactly like my Dyna2000 ignition, same switches, same meanings to the switch positions. The right-most switch position explanation is obscured, does it have Single-Fire choice there? That's really the reason I like this ignition, it makes the idle sound "cooler." There's a race ignition on ebay for $28 now, that's a pretty good deal. |

Yeah, yeah, read them both 20 times. I bought it on 'principle', not for increased performance. Still can't see whether right-most switch is Single/Dual fire, but will assume so. Didn't know about the Screamin' Eagle version. Cool! So there's three 'racy' module choices for my Y2K M2; Buell, Dyna2000, or Harley. |
