Sometimes it will come to rest at zero for a minute or two and then it'll start working again. Local HD just put on a new cluster (I have a gear indicator now WOOHOO!!) but alas that wasn't the ticket. Nothing has been found directly to trip it, it just does it when it feels like it. I'll see what they come back with this next time...
