Hey Jeff - I am heading down from Indy going to swing by Vern's (Etennuly) Thursday. Next day on to BOF and knowing Vern not only will I be just trying to keep up, but it will be some of the best roads a flat-lander like me gets to ride on. Hopefully he fixed the problem with his bike....seems the front end wasn't staying on the ground for some reason |

Oh that front end problem..... I spilled some flux injector juice on the forks from my antigravity ray gun. It has since been cleaned up. I do still need to find time to pull the right fork tube for a seal and some oil. I do have some roads to work with. I will be studying maps soon. |

Finally found out what my wife's schedule is doing. She won't be able to attend directly. But there is a chance she can make it partially one day. Her parents will be here during that time. She is going to try to get them come down for a pass through to see the area on one of the days I will be in attendance. So far I am leaning on staying at the Copperhead Lodge. BBB(bonfire-burgers-beer) Thursday is on the map for sure! You folks camping, heading in for the event from the North or other, are welcome to join us.....it is still free! Friday am will have us topping off the gas tanks, grabbing breakfast and twisting to the Suches area. It will take a while so we need to be stands up by 9:00, fog permitting! I am setting up a more fun route than the last couple of times. It will be a little longer but that would suck wouldn't it? |

I'm new to the board and expected to see a "Sticky" with details of Buelltoberfest. But, I haven't found one. Can someone provide details of the event, or direct me to the proper page detailing the event? |

Well the best thing to do is read back in the archives about last year, and the year before and so on. There was a great Buell meet called March Badness that was always held one or two weeks BEFORE the weather turned nice. It was probably the most notable Buell meet-up in Buelldom. It kinda faded away with the bad economy, death of Buell MC, and the rain that fouled some otherwise cool events including dealer demos. So many people were showing up and there were some who just could not make the timing, so some of us decided a fall meeting of Buell riders was in order. So we have Buelltoberfest.....a continuation of a truly great tradition that usually happens two weeks BEFORE the weather turns bad and we are stuck with those funny colored leaves mostly still on the trees. March badness was truly an awesome event, this year was down to probably a few of the originators of the event. It had been attended by a motorcycle mechanic by the name of Erik something something, and later years by BMC's CEO. Always cold, damp, and muddy, I hope when the economy gets going it would be something to resume. My hat is off to Glitch and company, and Ulywife who always worked so hard to put the event together. |

Since there are going to be a few separate places where folks will be staying we should probably get together on a meeting time and place. Is T.W.O. still there? Any given time at "not Dales"? |

I appreciate the info. I've looked at the archives and will keep my eyes posted for Buelltoberfest updates. According to the TWO webpage, they are no longer in business. However, I've heard TWO is searching for an alternate property on which to re-build. |

This will be my first Buelltoberfest -- unfortunately that weekend I have other commitments and I can only stop by for a few hours one of the days. I'm interested in meeting as many riders as possible and am trying to determine the best day/time. Does everyone generally hang-around the campground, or are they out riding? |

We are going down to the gap for a bike trip and were wondering if anyone could recommend a decent place to rest our heads and butts after some good riding days. Something with kitchen is preferred and not right in the mountains. Our wives are coming with and have shopping needs during our riding days We have Monday the 17th booked at the Deal's gap resort already, gotta kick the tree of shame Thanks folks |

Betzy -- I'm trying to get info on Buelltoberfest myself, so I can't help you there. But, I can make a couple of suggestions for accommodations. There isn't much shopping around Deal's Gap. Nearby Robbinsville is a small town and doesn't offer much either. Bryson City is slightly bigger, but still doesn't offer much. But, you could stay in Bryson City, which would give you quick access to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the wives could drive to Cherokee and then over the mountain to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge -- they'll find plenty of shopping there. Alternatively, you could stay in Gatlinburg and ride from there. My wife and I have stayed at a nice condo in Gatlinburg, with full kitchen for $109/night (www.deerridge.com). They also have multi-room condos available. Deer Ridge is out of the main tourist strip and is very nice. There is a great restaurant heading back towards town (can't remember the name, but it is on a small creek). You'll find lots of other options in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. If you want to stay closer to Deal's Gap, Fontana Village (on Hwy 28) has cabins with kitchens and the Tuskegee Motel (on Hwy 28) has one multi-bedroom room that has a kitchen. There are a number of good restaurants in Bryson City (for dinner) and there is a Huddle House in Robbinsville (for Breakfast). That said, the "Dragon Slayer" breakfast at Deal's Gap is pretty good. Enjoy your visit. Craig |

Man, I wish I still had my Uly. My goal is to be back in the saddle by Spring 2012. Everyone have a safe and great time! Looking forward to hanging out with a few Buell riders at Etennuly's pre-ride get together! |

Betzy - the where is Suches, GA area. Since TWO is now closed, sounds like there may not be 1 "official" meet up area anymore. Some stay at a large Cabin near by (C3 Central), some at Copperhead Lodge, and some apparently looking at the campground mentioned in this post (Skeenah Creek). typically, these are loose gatherings, so there are no official ride plans. People make there plans each morning, and spend most of the day riding in the area, weather permitting! We are Buell riders after all, and these things were made to ride! If you want to meet up a specific day, throw that on the board and see what sticks. Not sure if I will make it or not (and would be just a day trip). |

Gonna try to do another Sunday Morning Pajama Run. It's just the loop around Suches, not a long ride. It's fun and a good chance to get in one last ride for those that have to leave Sunday. I haven't set a time yet, so just show up to the Skeenah Camp early Sunday with your PJ's over your gear and we'll ride.

Looks like we will have 30% chance of being dry Thursday night! Aside from building a bigger fire I am working to accommodate for the potential wetness. |

Huston!.....we have a problem. Or two. The latest weather maps have us under water Thursday....all day. We had rain all night last night and my campground area is flooded with a half inch of standing water now. We have had nearly no rain for the past four weeks so it is not soaking into the ground very fast but it has produced the kind of mud in the grass that will squish up between your toes. Regretfully, I have to cancel BBB this round. Parking the bikes and setting up tents just isn't going to work. I am so sorry folks. I truly enjoy doing this layover party and camping. With already having company in the house(my wife's family) through the weekend I will not be able to move inside to avoid the rains, there is just not enough room. Beyond that I am not going to be able to make BTF. I am now finishing the medications that I had to take for that nasty spider bite infection last month. I was fortunate to miss suffering what could have been a very bad thing. I have healed up very well, and getting over all that it has encompassed, but now I am suffering a reaction to the medication. I just got off the phone with Brad/Squids 86129 he asked for those coming to town to PM him if you will be in the area for riding to Suches Friday morning. He will respond tonight and may have a camping plan that will help. I feel terrible about this. I hope everyone can find alternate resources for Thursday and Thursday night. I am truly sorry. |
