well i'm gonna see about disconnecting the "noid" thing tonight. so i just disconnect the thing and unbolt it right? do i need a resister thing so a code won't come up? i think i heard somewhere (maybe in my own head) that the latest ecm flash disabled the noid anyway. so unplugging it wouldn't matter? i guess thats my question....yeah. otherwise i'll just remove and secure the cable away & leave it there |

so i do need the resistor for sure? i've got the air box off & cable disconnected so far actually i've never felt the "noid" kick in. and i've done plenty of third gear full throttle action i'm just wanting some of the cable tension off the grip you know? |

then just disconnect the cable and leave the noid in if you don't have the resistor. |

Thanks for the info... I just pulled the cable this morning. easy. I haven't picked up the "resistor yet" Can someone measure theirs? Is it even a resistor, or is it just a short? The reason I ask is because I measured a short across the solenoid input (as you would expect across a coil). |

You wouldn't expect a short across a coil if you have a decent meter unless the coil's shorted. The resistor will be more Ohms than the coil, most likely, also. Towards the high side of spec... If you get an Erik Buell Racing ECM, you don't need the resistor. Z |

I believe it a 200 ohm |

i just removed the cable at both ends and removed it. it unscrews from the solenoid too. left the noid sitting there |

yeah thats what i meant. Shame is that friggen noid weighs like 5 pounds easy!!!! |

Nuke - that's what I did for 3 years. A few months ago a friend gave me a resistor, new in bag, so I pulled the noid out finally and used the new gift. I haven't noticed the missing weight on the street... Z |

a coil is nothing more that a length of closely wrapped wire. Any coil should measure short or near short. Good to know about the Erik Buell Racing ECM negating the need for the silly "resistor". I already have that. Thanks all. AJ |

AJ The wire has a resistance per foot, a large coil of small wire can be several hundred Ohms. A typical spark coil's secondary is .2-.5 Ohms. Most small 12v relays are tens of Ohms. Zack |

Fair enough. My solenoid measured less than an ohm. My meter is working just fine. I doubt my solenoid is bad. So back to my question; has anyone actually measure the resistor plug? Has anyone else measured across their solenoid input? AJ |

dennis_c gave me a resistor today. it measures .121 ohm the noid measures .002 and sets off the 'short' alarm in my meter. the resistor does not |

This was my resistor resistance when I checked it back when I first got my bike. Meter on the 200 ohm scale |
