When I bought my CR it was full of oil up to the full indicator on the dipstick. I had the dealer to the oil change during the break-in process. I didn't check the oil right away after I picked it up but a couple of weeks later I noticed that it practically had no oil on the dipstick. I had to put .25 of a quart in. This past winter I put it in storage and I needed to have the fan replaced when I took it out. I had the dealer fix the fan and told them to replace the oil as well. I had to ride the bike home a hundred miles right after I picked it up. A couple weeks later I checked the oil and again, no oil on the dipstick. I had to add about .25 quart to get it to full. The dealer was a reputable Buell dealer and has a great service department, but why would it be that the techs aren't filling it full? My checking procedures are spot on with the procedure, and when I make sure it is to the full indicator it definitely got quieter. It aggravates me that the techs aren't adding enough. Don't worry. I'm going to do them myself from now on.

Oil level checking is a pain, and unless you do it the exact same way each time, you will get different readings. They probably were putting in enough oil and you might be adding more.

Also, if you are riding it hard, it will puke oil out into the airbox, so that will affect your levels too.

froggy - This bike is designed to have excessive blow by? Blow me away...haha

I changed the oil twice on my bike and put the same amount of oil in both times, however the second time after doing the hot check procedure I had to drain about 200ml.

clutreaper - The dealer will put in exactly how much the manual says it takes, and that is a guide line, and not do a hot check because of the time involved in doing that. So that is where you would get that discrepancy.

I have a CR and love it!!! Ride safe

I had the same issue when I had my first service done at the dealer. The problem was they were using 09 engine spec oil levels but mine is a '10 which takes more oil.

What year is your bike?
