Got to briefly ride an M2 Cyclone today at Shelton's. It was included in the buy out of J&E HD's stock when they got out of the Buell business and Shelton got in. A buddy and I were out riding and stopped by to bug Dave there, and try to plant the Buell bug in my Honda Nighthawk riding buddy. It was(is) a "new" 2002. They have it sitting in the back and Dave and I were goading Carlos(the buddy) to take a look at it. Dave decided to take it out and run it around the building just to see what it's like having ridden nothing other than XB's. By the time it was put away we all took our turns beating on this bike. The torque is un-real! My XB is no slouch but damn, that M2 was just stupid wicked! spun it round at one end of the lot and just lightly wacked the throttle and up it goes. Really a neat bike. It's got Carlos thinking I believe. He's been smitten by the XB12R but he really digs the stealth appearance of the Cyclone, that and it feels more like his Nighthawk. All i know is now my would be Buell collection will have to expand to include the Cyclone. |

My first bike was a Honda Nighthawk 700s and I bought an M2 because of the similar riding positions. I think the M2 is the best looking and best all around bike Buell has built to date. The canvis sadle bags work great, the passenger seat is still comefy (so my wife says) and the lines are deffinately much smoother then any other Buell. |

??? I just don't understand you guys... Real story. I wanted a Buell but wasn't sure what to buy. I drove down to the lakefront to watch the fireworks with my wife (then girlfriend) and we parked next to a Grey/Orange M2. she said she liked the bike so I went home and bought one I had been watching on cycle trader for awhile. I showed up in Iowa (not Dave's place) and got the bike new with PM rims for $7400. I never test rode the bike, I just put it on the trailer and went home. I stopped at Hal's HD and picked up a forcewinder and a Wylico Exhaust ($100 coupon from my MSF course). I got home and bolted the parts on and spent the evening riding. that's the whole story... |

You forgot the part how you were riding your Honda with your dad on his HD & he ran into some riding buddies of his & you were flat out embarassed to be on the Honda cause they gave you shit about it. Then you wanted a HD but didnt want to pay the price so you figured may as well get a Buell, same motor & it will be accepted by the HOG riders. |

Yeah.. you love that story don't you. I also wanted a bike to ride with my sportbike friends too so overall it was a nice fit. Oh I still got my eye on a Roadking, but the budget says no. Even when I do get it I won't get rid of my M2, I like it way to much. |

Actually I will put my M2 against your primo X1. If I remember correctly, your bike is fairly stock. I changed my front sprocket out (for a smaller 26 tooth) and the biker is significantly quicker. Besides, I like sharing the bike with the Mrs. It's my idea of quality time spent together. It's like the male version of walking around and holding hands. |

the M2 was my first. Love that bike until it got totaled by a drunk in a truck. The best all around buell in my eyes. only problem I had with it was the footpegs finding the ground to easy. but other than that what a great bike. |

In my humble opinion the M2 is the most wicked looking sportbike ever made! Also the most underrated! The torque of an even stock bike is mind-blowing. I couldn't even imagine what mine's gonna be like when I'm done playing. All I can say is, if you've never ridden one, try it...before they become classics like the S1's. ck |

My bud Wulfstan won't buy a Buell. I let him try my '01 M2L. He claims he'll die if he buys one. Something about coming down bat$%^^ crazy hill road near Dansville NY, thinking (from the feel) he's doing 60 & looking to find he's over 90. He says the confidence level is there after just a few miles & the Cyclone is too easy to ride too fast. Poor fella. Quote from right after the test ride. "I kept the front end down like you asked" I interrupt, "The 1st/2nd shift right?" he continues, "Yeah! it comes up every time!, almost looped it & the 2nd/3rd shift bounces it too..." He's looking at a Shadow. edited by aesquire on December 05, 2003 |

The M2 is not only one the best Buell ever, it is near the top of best all around standards. Sure, it's not perfect, but none of the other standards were either! What other bike can race, commute, tour, ride two up, carve backroads, hang with hogs & rockets.....etc, etc. Don't think that I am biased just because I now own 1.5 cyclones. The only things missing are more torque and a rear suspension mount that will handle a fast come down from a major wheelie! Try as I might, the new bikes are not as pretty, capable, fun, or functional. |
