hey guys, need some info on a little issue i have. went to hop on my bike this morning for a ride with the wife. turned the key and nothing. needless to say, all fuses were good, relays etc. i thought the switch was bad, so i went ahead and wired in a toggle switch while maintaining the steering lock. using the wiring diagram, i put the red and red together, the red and grey, and the red and black on the switch. still nothing. then i thought about the j-fuse. it was bad, but i had been drinking by this point so i wasn't gonna leave to get a new one. my wife is picking up some right now. i made a female-female jumper to see if the bike would fire up. it did after i remembered to flip the switch. hahaha. now, when i hit the horn button, the bike dies. i tried to rev it up and hit the horn, same thing. i never use the horn, but i need it working by monday night because i'm taking the Lee Parks total control course and i need to pass inspection before i can ride in the class. any ideas on where to look and or start? i'm lost!! any and all help is appreciated. |

You turned your horn into the kill switch. When you're sober, put everything back the way it was and try again from the beginning. |

I only had a couple by the time I was done. It just doesn't make any sense. I think I'll just make something work for the time being. Try again tomorrow morning. I'll keep y'all posted once I figure it out. |

Well, I hooked everything back up the way it was and everything was all better. What would cause the horn to kill the bike? I don't get it. |

Really, you made it the kill switch. Look at the wiring diagram, the horn is the only circuit that goes to ground direct. Your hack bypassed the switch ground and there you go. Horn on, battery grounded, everything off. |

You know Mr. T, I never even thought of that. It makes perfect sense. You kinda gave me an epiphany. Thank you very much sir. I'll try it again later this week. Any tips for me on the next try?
