Thank you Spidey. BTW, I have a little M2 project going on myself although not as in depth as yours I am just trying to improve it's ergonomics and just improve the small details. Good luck with yours. Mike |

I would stay away from the stock Buell linkage then if you want to improve. Save the money an buy a Banke. The Stock M2 "Updated" shifter is waaaay to short. On the X1 it rocks. M2 it sucks!! That is why I have kept My overhand "moon" shifter. |

I heard that the newer shifter was to short for the X1. I don't have enough in the bank for the Banke at the moment. I will stick with the stock one for now. Thanks for the heads up. Mike |

LOL diffrent stroke diffrent folks I guess. I think the "updated" shifter for the X1 is fine But the M2 is just too short. The one for the X1 is 2 inches longer an that extra leverage is nice to have. But don;t let my opinion sway you. Try an find a M2 with the updated shifter on it an take it for a ride. I may have been a little presuptious by sayin it isn't worth it. You may like it. |

What if you got the shift kit with the X1 lever? Mike |

Then your shifter will be hitting your peg The reason the X1 lever is longer is because the X1's pegs are about 1 inch higher an 2 inches back from where the M2's pegs are located. |

Michael, I've got the updated shifter on mine the effort is a little higher just move the peddle down 1 notch. You might want to check out this auction on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=10064&ite m=2445917405 edited by jst on November 30, 2003 |

Mike, It's like night and day. You will feel more pressure on your big toe during upshifts. One way to get around this it to rotate the shift arm 90 degrees. You'll be banging gears (GP style) 1 up, 5 down but it seems like down shifts are easier than upshifts. edited by jst on November 30, 2003 |
