First things first. It is clear that E B R is fielding a bike with potential to win. Congratulations to E B R on such a huge achievement. It is truly a Phoenix from the ashes story. Geoff May is clearly an excellent development rider able to feed back to the team all the details needed to do the sought after incremental improvements from race to race. Finishing all races and being am outstanding ambassador for the sport and the E B R brand. Then there's Taylor Knapp. Jumping on the bike and coming in fractions of seconds in 7th after Geoff. That speaks volumes about the versatility of the platform and Taylor's hunger to perform. I'm really looking forward to what will shape up for next year. E B R, Geoff and now Taylor. Thanks for a great show this year! |

Not to mention knapp just finished the super sport race and went down before he jumped on the 1190 in super bike (Message edited by deanh8 on September 06, 2011) |

Speed gave Erik Buell Racing a nice shout out right at the end of the show while showing the finishing order. Something about another top ten finish for Erik Buell. |

Don't forget that Geoff wound up 10th overall in Superbike points for the year, which is a major achievement as well. |

Last year he took 11th overall in points. Next year with the 1190 all year I am hopeful that the results will be better in the races. Great to see such a small team doing well. Steve Rapp taking 9th overall is more impressive to me. Riding the BMW and Kawasaki on an even smaller team than Erik Buell Racing it is amazing what they were able to accomplish especially with not racing the first round! The other BMW in the top 10 is Pegram who took 7th but is almost a factory team. Is it almost time for Daytona yet???? |

not to take anything from Knapp, but without the data and research that May and Erik Buell Racing did with the 1190, i dont know if they would have finished so close together. I'd be surprised if Erik Buell Racing didnt help Knapp set up his bike. Either way though.....IS IT NEXT SEASON YET!? Jake |

Rapp's team has a lot more money than Erik Buell Racing's team, and a lot more in the bikes than an 1190RS would cost. Trust me, I specifically know. So how is racing an existing import bike with a large private budget more impressive than a team actually building the base bike and then running it? Good grief. Don't know what it will take to get respect. |

A lot of us are impressed, both by the result and bringing the bike to the track starting from scratch. And a lot of us can't wait to see what the next few years bring. |

Lets see...who deserves respect...hmmmmm...take a bike off the showroom floor...basically change the bodywork (while saving all the STOCK STREETBIKE PIECES) so they can be reinstalled....and go finish 7th in a superbike event... I can hear it now...at the local bike night..."Dude, thats a sick bike you have" is that a Ducati??? "nah...it's the bike that Taylor Knapp rode to a 7th place finish at NJMP a while ago"...I just changed the bodywork back and put the license plate back on it. I am a jaded old man...I don't impress easily...Where E.B.R. is heading is astounding! I can't WAIT for Daytona... |

Geoff and Steve Rapp each finished the AMA SBK season with 139 points, which would indicate a tie for 9th in most competitions. Maybe AMA Pro Racing has some kind of tie breaker. |

Erik Buell Racing only had the bike they had engineered to race a few races of the season. Knapp raced a full race, wrecked, then jumped on a customers 100% stock bike, with no experience, data or anything for the bike other then a few bits he got the day before and rode it to a 7th place finish. But you are more impressed with the guy with what, years of experience and probably way more then 100 grand into their bike?? Seriously?? Way to go Erik Buell Racing, don’t listen to the haters! |

The exiting thing to me about this race was not the 6th or 7th place. For me, it was the lap times they were pulling at the end. On par with the super motivated riders at the front, which is promising for next year. The two remind me of when Eric and Ben Bostrom used to duke it out in their younger years.....Brotherly competition. At Road America it was Steve and his mechanic working out of a similar truck to what Erik Buell Racing runs. I do not believe their budget was that high nor that they were running a "$100,000" bike. They were sponsored by a BMW dealership and Rapps money. Now that was according to Steve Rapp not an anonymous post on the internet. I have tons of respect for Erik Buell Racing and am not sure why if someone says anything that isn't 100% praise for them they get this type of reaction. I really hope Erik Buell Racing does better next year with a whole season on the 1190. |

At NJMP Steve Rapp was on a Kawi not a BMW, so different team and different bike. |

I looked at the starting grid, saw the stack of BMW's, and my first thought was "BMW must be spending a fortune this year!". |

Proud to be a Buell owner does not even come close to expressing how Proud of the Erik Buell Racing team I am. They truely exemplify what the superbike class is supposed to be take a showroom bike and with minimal mods go racing and be competitive at the top level. Thanks to all at Erik Buell Racing and geoff May and Steve Rapp for a great finish to 2011. Red |

I'm rooting for Rapp too 'cause, if nothing else, he hails from my hometown Hawthorne, CA, the "City of Good Neighbors", also former hometown to the Beach Boys Wilson family. Plus he's an excellent competitor with a good attitude towards the sport, the kind I'd like to see campaigning an Erik Buell Racing 1190 in the future. |

Rde48 you are correct he was on a Kawasaki at NJMP because the team ran out of funding to continue to campaign the BMW so he rode for a different team on that Kawasaki. Sorry I brought up another small team doing amazing things and derailed this thread. Is Daytona almost here yet??? |

"I looked at the starting grid, saw the stack of BMW's, and my first thought was "BMW must be spending a fortune this year!"." Not all BMWs running are factory racers, just the same as the Suzukis, Kaws, Yamahas and even Er Bu Ra bikes |

I talked to Larry Pegram at the practice session at MMP,he told me he gets little to no help from the BMW factory. When he calls the factory and tells them about a problem they are having the response is "yea we had that problem to"but no info on how to fix anything.BTW congrats E.B.R. on an excellent season, can't wait for next year!!! |

Anyone else notice the full page ad in Cycle World for KTM? Blowing their horn about get a top ten finish? How many top tens did Buell get this year? How many race tires could they have bought for the price of that one ad? Man I hope Erik can get some money together next year to really do this thing right! |
