Bike idles and runs and restarts great. I did all the recommended procedures. Drained the tank, fresh gas, tested flow with cap on from Reserve and On positions. Removed oxidation from metal intake and carb flanges, cleaned, greased and reinstalled boot. Blasted starter enrichment jet orifice with carb cleaner while that was open. Removed and repinned Deutsch plug. I did not open up the carb as I had done all of that about 5 months previous. A little whiff of starter fluid from cold and the bike starts immediately and will idle only with a little help from the throttle. After a minute it idles perfectly and runs like a beast. It restarts after that point fine. But once the bike has sat an hour or so it won't restart from cold. Even with the throttle cracked a little nothing happens. I can smell the gas though...mysterious. Any ideas? I'm thinking about modding the old AR to manual per the tutorial above to see if that makes a difference. I'm stumped. I can bring just about anything back to running order...but something is giving that CV40 a problem and I can't see it. Thanks in advance. Here's a vid of it running yesterday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWbJE6OAA_4 |

How could it be shot if it's brand new? What part do you think failed? |
