I was browsing Battley H-D (Gaithersburg, MD) today, hoping for some transmission fluid and some leather pants (I opted for some cool-weather armored pants from Castle and some hot-weather armored almost-gauntlets from RevIt), when I saw a dude sitting on the new Ducati Diavel. It was next to the new Multistrada. I really like the MS, but I have the Uly...the dollars don't make sense! But, I really would like a full-on superbike...I have a sport-tourer (the Uly), I have a stripped-down cruiser (H-D Street Bob), but I want a sportbike. I don't fit onto most crotch rockets or racebikes, so I need something different. The pegs and seat on the Diavel seemed right...and it looked like a BEAST. The salesguy was comparing it to the V-Max (which they also sell there), telling the sitter that the Diavel blew the Yamaha away. Anyway, anyone ridden the devil? Anyone who's 6'3"? |

My buddy has one. He loves it. It is very fast and handles better than you would think. It turns in easy and holds it's line. The few complaints he has is the rear tire only lasted 2200 miles and there is only one tire available, and there are not many accessories available for it yet. I think it looks like Batman's Bike. It draws a lot of attention! (Message edited by union_man on September 04, 2011) |

San Diego Ducati will give a half hour test drive. It is FAST. Brakes are superlative. Very comfortable riding position. Very impressive bike. A 50 to 80 roll on is over in the blink of an eye. This is one shit hot bike. |

I would consider one before the V-Rod. The German Motorcycle magazine, "Das Motorrad", tested it against a V-Max and the Rod and it won. If I had more money, I would put that Power Cruiser in my barn. I could test ride one, there is a Ducati dealer close to me, but I'm scared to get addicted to it and spend some money, which I should save. (Message edited by harleywern on September 04, 2011) |

Did they test it against a 2012 V-rod? http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/harley-davi dson/2012-harleydavidson-10th-anniversary-edition- vrod-review-91117.html |

Thanks folks... I appreciate the V-Rod, but the seating/footpegs/handlebar position just doesn't look natural. I remember sitting outside at a restaurant, admiring my Uly, when a very small woman on a V-Rod pulled up (wearing high heels and a pink half-helmet) and parked. I don't think she was able to operate the rear brakes. It was entertaining. |

No, they tested against the 2011 V-Rod. |

The Dieval is definitely far and away the best "power cruiser" currently made. ~50hp more than a V-rod with much less weight, better brakes, better ergonomics, much better suspension, and better handling. The The V-rods, V-max and others just don't even come close. That said its still a long way off from handling a real sport bike. The MTS makes very nearly as much power and handles better while also being more comfy imo. The Dieval will get off the line quicker being that its lower and can accelerate harder without the front end coming up. If you want good but not great handling (though great for this class) and worldclass acceleration its an excellent option. If you want sport-bike handling the only non-sport bikes that come close are the duc streetfighter and aprilia tuono I think. I've known some very tall folks to ride various sport bikes without issue, you just might fit on more bikes than you think. Oh, I'm 5'10," 165lbs, I didn't find the dieval or MTS too small or too large. I didn't like the semi-cruiser ergonomics of the dieval. To me the dieval gives up a lot in order to get the cruiser look. Other than maybe getting off the line just a tiny bit quicker, I can't think of anything the dieval does better than the streetfighter or MTS. The MTS fit well except that the plastic has this odd buldge right where there should be knee cutouts (at least for my body build, which is probably about as average/typical as you can get). enjoy!
