What is the comfort kit relash? The Buell Ulysses Comfort kit is a series of fan ducts, scoops, and a heat shield that improve cooling to the rear cylinder. To complement this kit, Buell released an updated ECM programming that alters the fan runtime strategy. What changes with this reflash? The ONLY logic in the ECM that is changed, is fan logic. OEM fan logic references ONLY head temp sensor. Comfort logic references both temp sensor (so it WILL NOT affect warm-up; below the "on" temp there's no fan) AND vehicle speed. The fan blades are a wind block when stopped; running (turning) while the bike is in motion and allowing/helping all that scooped-in air get out under the tail makes a big difference. The "no fan under 15mph" is a nod to all the "I hate listening to my fan" complaints. If you're going slow enough to hear it...it won't turn on. The kit is a KIT, and the flash is part of the KIT. It's designed to work TOGETHER. What bikes can get this reflash? While the whole kit will fit all 2006 and newer Ulysses models, the reflash only applies to 2008 and newer models. |

froggy, seems like youre the guy to ask. i just installed the comfort kit on my 09 uly XT and its pretty obvious that the small scoop doesnt do too much good. might even hurt airflow. i have seen and been told that the 2010 XT models come stock with a larger scoop and i want one. it looks like a left hand version of the right side scoop. trouble is i cant find one for either the us version or my catalytic HDI version. need a part number and a source. thanks |

Gringo, unfortunately due to the different exhaust system on your bike, the large scoop will not fit. You can buy the large scoop from American Sport Bike if you want to try it out and possibly modify it. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A17360.html Or you can buy the pieces of it from the dealer of your choice Screw, stainless, 10-32 x 5/8, button head (you need 3 of them) AN1005.3FSS Shroud, outer right engine M0851.7AA Shroud, inner right engine M0852.7AA |

update time. the 851 852 set will not fit the catalytic HDI bikes cause the header pipe curves upward at just that point. on non cat bikes the header slants downward. and at this point i doubt if any after market scoops will fit either, seem to be all made for us market. big surprise huh. froggy is 100 percent correct on his data and advice. yet another surprise huh. |

I had a new ECM installed and it did not seem to have the reflash. I was told that it came with the reflash standard. Not sure about this. How can you tell by the fan action if you have the reflash? |

Recently bought a used '09 Uly with a "Comfort Kit" installed and fan logic reflash done. I hear the fan shut down when approaching walking speeds (even in stop and go traffic) and I'm thinking "This is when I'd like the fan to be running!" Is there any way to revert the fan back to it's original operating regimen of responding to cylinder head temperature? I'd really rather listen to the fan if it's doing the cooling job required by the engine. |
