About seven long months ago, I wrote a post that defined what really matters in life. Those things have not changed (God, Wife(family & friends) and my bike) for me since I’ve been to Afghanistan, but I certainly have grown to miss them and appreciate them that much more. I can honestly say this has been an experience that I will never forget. Granted it’s my 3rd deployment, it was really my first REAL deployment. And personally I have learned a lot since I’ve been here but most of all I learned that our freedom isn’t easy and it is not free. When you think of freedom, you always think of the price that it cost; and I cannot tell you how many times I had to hear “Taps” being played over the giant voice for one of my fellow fallen brothers. So the cost is VERY high, don’t let anyone else tell you different. As for me I’m very excited to head back home to see my wife once more and relax for a couple of weeks. I have gathered vast amounts of information from you guys over the months concerning my bike and I plan to do a lot of mods in the coming up months. I want to start going to the track but I’m a little nervous, but hopefully I can meet some people that would be nice enough to show me the ropes. So, I also wanted to thank all the guys at badweb, who are there to help people with their enormous amount of knowledge and information, you guys are awesome!! Hopefully I will be back home sometime mid September, and will still be able to catch a couple of awesome summer riding days, very excited indeed. (Sorry for the long post, just wanted to share my excitement and rant a little bit A pic of my bike and myself

My father fought against the Japanese in WWII in the Philippines. He was taken prisoner and survived the infamous Bataan Death March. He was liberated by General Douglas McArthur’s men. My Mom survived the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, and barely able to avoid being raped and starved to death by the Japanese! After the war, these two people rose up from the mess left behind and rebuilt their lives, raised a family in the USA, became successful in business, and overcame incredible adversity. But they stood up fighting for their freedom and when they won they became the best that they could be in peacetime. They are my heroes. So are all the men and women who have served and continue to serve so that we can all have our freedom. A lot of people today take that for granted and think it’s a birthright. But it’s not, not in this world. You are free because someone fought and died for it. I count my blessing everyday. More power to you Guambra. |

Guambra, Thanks for your service. My brother wants to go into the Marines, I am worried for him, but its what he wants; and I have mad respect for him. Don't worry about the track, just take it easy and have fun. My bro wrecked my bike on palomar mountain and I fixed it up w/o insurance(bike barrel rolled 3x). These bikes wreck great! Erik Buell Racing is always there to help with parts. |

Thank a vet. Thats my personal quote. I have also had the honor of serving this great country. I get choked up every time i hear "Taps" being played because of the true meaning behind it. Another fallen HERO. Be safe and thank you for your service. Go Airborne! |

Guambra2001 Are you from around Athens Ohio by any chance? Only reason I ask is because I was down there a few months ago and was at a gas station and as I was getting ready to leave a guy stopped me to talk about my R. He was talking bout how nice the Buell are and how his son had a red CR but was over seas now. Just wonder if that was your dad and if the guy was you? |
