My 2009 Buell XB12scg's factory warranty is about to expire and thinking of an extended warranty. My dealer has quoted me the following: 1 year: $689 w/o tire and wheel protection ($979 with) 2 years: $879 ($979) 3 years: $1074 ($1364) 4 years: $1199 ($1564) 5 years: $1409 ($1774) Not sure if its worth it. What could go wrong with my bike that would justify this? I think Tire and Wheel protection is a bit much but in the long run $1409 for 5 years doesn't sound all that bad. Just would like to find out what could cost over $1409 that could go wrong in 5 years. |

Engine failure or transmission failure are pretty much the only single items that will rack up a $1500+ bill. In my opinion, you are best off taking $1500, putting it in a savings accounts, that way if something happens and you do need work, you have the funds on hand, and as long as you don't have a major failure you will still have plenty of beer money at the end of 5 years. |
