hi guys, a very long time ago the good people on here helped me with my rear shock. well im back and now my header is broken. id like to get a custom exhaust system. i cant seem to find anything that will fit. are there any pipes that fit a harley that would fit my tuber? any aftermarket pipes that add power? anything i just dont want OEM its failed on me twice. |

I can get you a race header off a 2000 m2 if it will fit it's like new. I will need to get ahold of the guy and get a price but he is very fair |

All 99+ model year headers are an under the frame design that works with the 99+ model year frame to fit under the frame. A 99-02 header will not fit a pre '99 model year bike without some serious coercing with a hammer - sledge or otherwise, or some other pipe bender type device. All the headers from a 97 model year bike should fit though. 96-98 M2 or S1 headers should also work (2" collector). 98 S1W had a 2 1/2 inch collector though. I'm unsure of the 98 S3 collector size. |

if you've cracked a stock header twice, its not being installed correctly. incorrect installation puts torque/twist on the pipes themselves...and they crack. put the header and muffler on the bike with all fasteners finger-tight, so you can still wiggle the header and muffler. start at the rear head. tighten the flange bolts, wiggling the header as you do. then do the front head. then do the front hangar. then do the muffler inlet. then the rear muffler hangar. every time you tighten a new bolt, wiggle the 'downstream' section as you tighten until everything is properly torqued. this will seat all the components in the 'correct' place. 3 tubers now, one in the past, and countless friends' bikes fixed. zero cracked headers to date. |

I tried to follow this, but what happens is once I put the front muffler mount on, it doesn't 'wiggle' any more. I have the newer 'Y' mount. Seems to pretty much affix the front in place. Also I was way way overtorquing the header nuts. Supposed to be 6 INCH pounds! Almost don't trust them to stay on, but was afraid to put blue loctite, I don't know how temperature affects is. |

you're right. as you tighten, stuff won't wiggle anymore. that's why you have to do it in order |

RE: Charlies_s1 thats exactly what i did lol. im going to get it chromed so it will last longer and look better while its at it. i still wish someone made a performance header for this year though its rather infuriating. |

that is an awesome bike! those pipes look pretty good ceramic. looks powerful instead of flashy. im thinking that chrome will add more strength to the pipes though. |

Dont think so, think they left all the left over headers at their new york facility when they moved to nc. |
