06 Ulysses On way home today realized had NO Turn Signals No Port - No Starboard - No Fore - No Aft - No light on the instrument cluster - No steady light - No blinking light - No nuthin Checked fuses - visually & electrically (2X) = OK Checked bulbs - all 4, visually & electrically = OK Took switch cluster on the grip apart Turn Signal Switch functions mechanically OK When Switch operated get continuity w/ each set of contacts as would be expected. (remark: when switch was in the center position had very hi impedance continuity between the contacts which was not expected but @ > 6K ohms doubt that is the problem} No matter where I check @ the switch, @ the blinker gizmo find no voltage In times past had problems with the Right Turn Signal (ONLY) a couple of times. Last time I put about a yard of slack in the Right Turn Signal Wire & protected the whole bundle w/ flexible, protective plastic. - But in those cases the Left Signal worked fine. Give me a hint as to where I should start digging. Remark: The signals failed on the way home from some advanced riding training where we were going lock to lock lots & lots of times & probably the wiring bundle did get a good work out. |

Ground wire on the steering head. May not look broken but by feel you may find a soft spot where the wire broke internally. BTW, who put on the riding course? |

Griffmeister Thanks for the hint. Gott'a start someplace. Sure hope to avoid digging into the wiring bundle yet again. BTW, who put on the riding course? Legion Riders @ local Legion Post. One of our members is a retired NYS motorcycle trooper & certified police motorcycle instructor. He brought in an active duty trooper & borrowed 100 cones from someplace. |

Agree, steering head ground wires. Mine did the same a few years back. Looking at the wires was fruitless. I pulled out the headlights to access them and the wire ends fell apart when I touched them. |

behind the headlight there are about five black wires together, coming from various lights etc, which run down and back, beneath a clamp and back out again to be connected by a torx to the chassis. there is your problem, one of them or more are busted internally. gently pull on each one and the ones that seem to stretch are bad. i replaced all with a braided cable of smaller diameter but more flexible. |

Gringo, Finally got around to digging into wire the bundle & problem due my idiocy when fixing a previous problem. BUT While everything is out & exposed want to do what you did. - Really hate digging into the bundle & would like to avoid doing it again. As best possible give us some details - Pictures - Sketches - Written Instructions How far up did you cut the existing ground wires? Did you solder or use crimp connectors? |

My 2008 broke the ground near the lug on the steering head. Pop off the front plastic and look for a screwed down cluster of wires (with one broken off) |

Know where the ground wires are, Gwd knows I dug into the wiring enough times. - Really hate that task + think removing the shielding makes wires vulnerable to rain Want to do what Gringo suggested & replace the twisted ground wires w/ a braided cable & maybe avoid digging into the bundle in the future. Not sure how far back to cut the existing ground wires or if soldering or crimp connectors are to be preferred. |
