If my HB bags leaked on this trip it would have been to my favor. Kind of like my rain suit. Packing up while everything was filling with water was a different situation than normal. I rode 100 miles to finally get out of the rain to realize how wet my shirt was before I got my rain gear on.
A change of clothes at a gas station and even riding into blinding rain storms for the next couple of hours I was still dry. It sucks to get damp and ride.
The heated grips are really nice when it is raining. Seems like if your fingers stay warm it helps keep you from getting chilled.
I put my rain covers over a wet jacket cause my jacket was lying in my tent inside facing up when We went to breakfast. And for some unknown reason I had taken my rainfly off the tent. So it was basically a screened in swimming pool when we got back. I'm sure glad it wasn't cold. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm having some serious WVBR withdrawls(sp?).
Well you tube decided that the song I used in the video is copyrighted and they won't let me use it so now I have to redo it yet again....grrr But on the bright side I get to use that wonderful pic of Charlotte in it!!!! Yay!!! lmao
#6 might be a great idea, but in asking for it is to put a bunch of good folks out where they have volunteered to be for the past five years. I think in appreciation for Mark and his great family we should not be asking for such, because it was their decision to end it at five.
Perhaps a group could do the campgrounds get together, and in honor of the Gainer family do a parade ride past their home beeping and waiving in appreciation.
We need to please show respect in not asking for more, but maybe send a card of thanks for what the past five years of their hard work has meant. I know Mark would not publicly fight against doing it again, but he has confided in me that he has other things on his horizons for next year and does not want to burden his family with the days of preparation that it takes to make an event like this happen.
THANK YOU GAINER FAMILY! THANK YOU MARK the WOLFRIDGERIDER!
I am going back up through these threads until I find their address and send these great folks a nice letter.
Gary, That video collage is awesome. I missed that when I looked here earlier 'cause it got clear over to the right side of the oversize screen. I hate it when the screen stretches that far.
My fondest memory of the year I went were Mark's family . . . just extraordinary folks . . a perfect fit for a group of Buell riders . . . it's so cool to read this stuff.
Nice video Gary, thanks for putting that together. Thanks for also making it safe enough to show my wife, since I didn't take very good pics this year.
Gary/Ken - I hope I don't have to crash and get surgery scars to get in next years video (wherever it may occur).
Vern - I think my route home sounds drier than yours was, though I admit it was pretty damn boring, especially solo.
Definitely will be sending a card to the Gainer's, as in the past. I am lucky to have been a part of a great and brief tradition!
