XB9SX 09, 8k miles. Started having check engine light come in with intermittent power drops. Diagnostics trouble code 16, low/high battery voltage. I did a ride with a multimeter connected to the battery terminals. Voltages were as follows Prior to start: 12.61 After start: 14.10 Running/Riding: 14.25 During fluctuation/problem: ~11-13 Lowest: 10.86 After Shutoff: 12.88 I have been told this is a voltage regulator problem. How do I fix this? |

Did you read the last post in your other thread from Harleyelf or verify the voltage coming from the stator? Connector #5 is the one you will need to check alternator/stator output.

I have just pulled off the left air scoop and checked the VR cables and connectors. I am not sure where on the engine this picture is. My manual doesn't have an alternator connector listed in it. there are two connectors coming of the VR, one that goes to the stator and another that goes to the battery. Which one am I supposed to check? |

The picture above only applies to older XB models, your 09 has a totally different wiring harness. |
