Got an 08.. just had my pump/sending unit replaced. Low fuel light came on (wouldn't go out), threw low fuel pressure codes. |

I had mine changed last week - but only 'cause the LFL light comes on when cold... I did tell the dealer it was the IC that needed changing but he insisted that the diag flowchart said "fuel pump then IC"... SO I guess I'll put it in for a new IC next LOL.. |

No, but my 08 fuel pump is probably going to get replaced soon because of the LFL light being on all the time (unless I'm low on fuel - then it's off). Shame that part isn't separate. |

i have no lights on, but the bike seems like it is running out of fuel! its getting hard to start if i havent been riding in a couple of days. yesterday it actually stalled on me, id been on it all morning, went and got a coffee, when i tried to start it, it fired then died! its only got 5000 klms on it! the dealer tried to tell me there is nothing wrong with it! i think they waiting for the warranty to end! its getting worse the more i ride it! i only get the lfl when it is cold out! |

My 08 did the same thing when I first bought it. I would go to the store or what ever and when I jumped back on her she wouldn't start the first time I tried. It usually took a couple of tries before it would start. Ended up being the fuel pump. Been great ever since and its been over 2 years now. |

Your bike was probably out of gas when it wouldnt start, how many miles had it been since your last fill up? I have had similar situations with mine but my problem was the fuel light came on very late and I was nearly out of gas 6 miles later. Bike would not start unless I sloshed the fuel around in the tank and even then, only for a moment. Put more gas in it and it was fine. |

Any of you with this problem want to try a fix besides replacing the fuel pump? I believe you can jumper in a variable resistor and trim out this DTC. The thermistor drifts high, so all you have to do is trim in a low resistance in parallel to bring it down to spec. I forget the pins and I have already started on the Weller's Special Reserve. Should work, but it's all just theory yet. Zack |

My '09 cr had the fuel pump replaced by HD under warranty. The fuel light was coming on when it was cold out and I had a full tank of fuel. I'm not convinced it needed to be done but the bike was in for the stator/RR/harness, among other things, so they just did it. |

I could certainly take a stab at making something like this before taking it in. |

well i took the bike in, its still got waranty! and of course it didnt act up at all! the tech took it for a ride, he came and said it seemed fine! i left it there so they can try and start it in the morning, thought i was gonna have to put in the back of the truck this morning, had to cycle the fuel pump 3 time before it would even fire! the tech keeps talking about the jardine being free flowing, i cant see how the pipe could be causing this! thanks for the info guys! we will see what they have to say. |

I always wonder what would happen if you took it in there and complained about the loud exhaust noise...what would they blame THAT on? First thing I would look at is the fuel pump ground. A loose or dirty ground location will cause intermittent electrical component misbehavior. That sort of thing will never repeat itself when a tech is standing anywhere nearby. Figure out which wire coming from the fuel pump assembly is the ground wire. Tap into that wire as close to the fuel pump as you can reasonably get. Run a wire straight from the tap to the battery ground. If that resolves the problem then you can try to track down the stock harness ground location and clean it up/tighten it up. |

BUell did have a batch of fuel pumps that had bad check valves in them, this would cause low pressure and the pressure wouldn't hold...when it doesn't hold, the bike is hard to start when hot... I had my pump replaced for the exact issue...I later had a low pressure CEL. |

the fuel pump is supposed cycle when the key is turned after riding, mine has stopped doing that, i got my bike baqck yesterday, i found a shell gas station on the way home! filled the tank, seem to run alot better, but still has a little popping going on! but still much more enjoyable to ride now! im letting it sit a couple of days, to see if its gonna give me trouble. if so its going back. got till november when the warranty runs out! |

well it wouldnt start last night, it took 3 times to get it to start, and one hell of a loud backfire, cant hear in my left ear now! called the shop, he said change my ecm back to the stock one! the fuel pump has lots of pressure when it running, thats a good thing but when it sits for a couple of days it has a hard time starting! so i dont know! sounds to me like its not holding pressure when it is not running! sorry starting to get frustrated with these harley techs! once the warranty is up then ill go find someone else! |

Stlrdn, Go into Diag mode(hold both ic buttons as you turn on the key) and check the pressure, it gives a value for the fuel pressure, I'm sure someone can chime in with the stock fuel pressure value. |

I just checked both my 09 CR which has been sitting for a week, and my 08 R which was parked about an hour ago, both were at 480KPA, with it slowly dropping, about 1KPA per second. I'm not sure what the book says they should be, but if you are getting only 40KPA that most likely is your issue. |

ok its back in the shop. they say there could be a problem with the fuel pump, getting 418 kpa while running! shut it off and it drop so fast down to 40! now its not charging the way it should, 11.6-12.5 when its cold, warm its charging 13-14. |

if the battery was sitting at about 11.6 -11.8 would that make my bike run like crap? when the bike is cold the altinator is at 11.3-11.9. when warmed up its at 13-14. then let it sit for for about 10 - 15 mins, its back to 11.6, anybody know what could be causing this, if its just the battery im gonna mad! the guy at the shop says there are no codes. there has to be something wrong. i cant take this thing in anymore. ive just about had it with this bike! |

A bad battery could cause some issues... not enough juice and things start acting weird.. |

When my fuel pump was new, it showed 440 KPa solid in DM motor off kill switch on. When it's predecessor was deemed faulty, it was showing 40 KPa in the same state. Currently, Loretta shows around 40 KPa, jumps to 518 KPa when I cycle the kill switch. I'm expecting to have to pull the pump assembly soon... Zack |

Well they ordered a new fuel pump, and of course its bin backordered for 2 weeks! I will be putting a new battery in it, they told me it has to be a hd battery, I'm not paying 170 for a battery. I can get the same battery for half the cost at work! |
