Hope one of you can help with this weird one...

I just replaced the Battery on my 2008 Buell XB12Ss. It started with a huff and puff and then ran sweetly. The second time I tried to start the bike there was nothing other than a clicking sound coming from the Fuse box. I checked all the fuses and they are all OK. Other than nothing happening the High beam light on the dash stays on (Even with switch turned to low beam) and also the Neutral and Oil light as well... these lights stay on even with the ignition switched off...I had to disconnect the battery to get these lights off. I suspect a short but could not find any. Also the Harley and Buell techs cant help me without having a look them selves which is 600km's away... (They have also not heard or seen such a problem).

Any thoughts????

Sounds like a sticking relay, likely the Key Switch Relay in the Relay Center.

With the key off, try swapping the 3 relays around and see if symptoms change with the key on. If symptoms change then it's a matter of deduction to determine which relay is the problem.

New relays can be found at most auto parts stores.

The relays are the gray boxes in the fuse box area, just in case you didn't know.

Are there any worn spots in the wire harnesses around your steering neck? Those lights shouldn't have power with the switch off - the power has to come from somewhere. At the least you should be able to make them go out by disconnecting a quick-connect in that area. Does the kill switch make them go out? Your new battery is going to become an old battery in short order at this rate.

Hi Guys

I have tried all youre suggestions.
I have tried all the relays in all possible combinations - stays the same
When I pull one out (Any of the 4)the lights go off, that does not how ever make a difference in getting the bike to turn when I try to start it though, plus when the key is in the on position the High Beam light on the dash still comes on. (Even with the relays removed....

There is no worn areas any where on the harnessess around the steering neck or any where on the bike - still looks new.

Any other ideas?
