http://www.bonsaikitten.com/ For centuries, people in the West have marveled at the delicate beauty produced by Oriental artists and sculptors. From gardening to tattooing to dance and martial arts, these craftsmen have enthralled us with complex forms and simplistic perfection. One of the most fascinating of the visual techniques to emerge from this highly cultured region is the Oriental art of miniature sculpture. Who has not been stricken with the expressive grace of Japanese Bonsai? Though once the sole province of Bonsai masters within Japan, Bonsai plants have been available to fortunate consumers throughout the world for some time. With this in mind, we are proud to now offer to you the animal complement of this art form; the Bonsai Kitten. |

Then how about a hint what it's all about. Right now I'm picturing a kitten in a benchvise being fed rabbit pellets while having it's new growth pruned back with garden shears. Is this some selective breeding thing like those naked hairless cats, or something worse? |

Mike . . .. . put a kitten in a small glass brick (hollow) and feed it . . . . that's as far as I got (and I'm not at all a cat person) . . . . too fucking weird, even for me (and my tolerance is pretty high, as witnessed by my continued presence on tis board {grin}) |

So they're trying to make square kittens? Must be to go with the square watermelons. They should just put their own heads into those square bricks, then add water and plug the holes. |

Since December 2000, The Humane Society of the United States has received literally thousands of complaints about a "Bonsai Kitten" web site—subsequently determined to be a hoax— Thanks for that link Philly. |

I got an absolutely outraged email from my kittie-loving g/f a few months ago about it. Maybe I'm just twisted, but I realized immediately it was a joke, and actually found it mildly humorous and not a bad piece of satire. Especially in light of the "specialty breeds" of cats and dogs out there, dwarfs and the like or bulldogs so inbred they can't breathe, all in the name of "conformance to a standard". |

Folks, It's a joke!!!! This one has been around for a while. I saw it a couple of years ago. It IS warped humor probably aimed directly at the PETA types. Sounds like it's working... |

I'm not no PETA type or do I beleive in Animal rights like some do. I have a Ted Nugent mentality. I hunt, kill an eat my own food when permited. But this is sick. Killing an animal an making it suffer are two different things. |

Got an email about that site roughly a year ago. Didn't know what to think at first, but kept reading trying to figure it out. If you check the "how-to" section (I think, it's been a while), you will see that it's not true. Not that he says outright "This is a hoax", but the methods described are preposterous. Of course, I have a biology background, and am an incurable science nerd, but anyways...... Thing that bugged me about the site was the fear that someone, somewhere, would actually TRY it. Scary, but not impossible to imagine. Just my $.02. |

Yes is SICK and yes it is a hoax..... however you don't know the worthless fucking cat who has been living in my house for eleven years and occupying space. His name is Rudy. Bonsai Rudy seemed like a good idea for a split second. Don't get me wrong: I really love kitty cats but this Rudy is really testing my resolve. |
