The good: I am going to Key West for the weekend. The Bad: In a car. The Uly: After dropping the motor trying locate an engine noise it was determined the rear connecting rod is the cuprit. Yup, time to split the cases , ugg... FYI, 2006 Uly w/54,000 miles on it. Never abused that I know of. Just one of those things... |

We were in Key West in June with a rental car (we were actually all over the place-Orlando airport, Cocoa Beach, St Augustine, Ft Myers). I was happy to have the AC especially from Ft Myers to the Keys! I would like to do it on the bike sometime, just not in the summer. |

I lived in KW back in 93-95. Didn't have a bike down there, but yeah it's pretty brutal anywhere in Florida on a bike in the summer. |

I lived there 75-80 had a Kawa 350 single. Was trying to remember what gear I rode in in those days. I think it consisted of sneakers, shorts, and an old metal flake red helmet. after I moved to the Orlando area I used to ride down there every fall for a bmw ralley in Marathon. I haven't ridden down there in a few years. It is a senic ride once you get there. I wouldn't want to do it in this heat though. |

I spent part of last winter in the Keys. Weather was great when the rest of the country sucked. Rode the Buell up and down with Key West being a blast. Until I blew a fork seal that is and had to go to Ft. Lauderdale to get it fixed. Nobody down there knew anything about Buells and I did not have the tools in my toy hauler. Another bummer down there is the salt air. Will make rust of any exposed metal in a hurry. |

Oh man! Sorry to hear that Laird. Do ya think Buelltobefest will still be on your schedule? That sucks. |

If you're going that far into it, might as well update it to a 2008-up crankshaft and rods. I think the parts are actually cheaper than the 2006/2007 parts. You also need to change the primary side bearing in the case. |
