Just got the latest issue of Motorcyclist and Erik Buell took MOTY honors for his 1190RS. The cover reads "Is this the best superbike ever?" I can feel the value of all Buells rising slightly as I type. (Message edited by rwcfrank on July 28, 2011) |

Thats a good point frank. All the good press should overcome the bad vibes from the shutdown. |

""Erik Buell Racing will sell the exotic 1190RS for $39,999 with fiberglass bodywork, or $43,999 with the optional "Carbon Edition" body kit shown here, saving 5 lbs. This is expensive by any measure, but considering the sheer cubic hours of hand labor involved in building what is essentially a racing superbike with lights, it might be the best bargain on the motorcycle market today. Erik Buell Racing plans to build and sell a limited run of 100 bikes "as a design statement," and will then introduce a second model similar in concept but "decontented" for higher production volume and lower cost. Until then, Erik Buell is happy just to be building this bike. "I've taken a lot of blame over the years for Buell motorcycles, often for decisions that had nothing to do with me," he says. "Not this time. This is exactly what I wanted to build!" Read more: http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/firstrides/122_1 109_2012_erik_buell_racing_1190rs/index.html#ixzz1 TQus5JEI"" ... |

Should we tell any of the 1125R owners that they have been classified as "outlier enthusiasts"? I'd hate for them to wear that monicker as a badge of some sort...or go so far as to put it on a t-shirt. Does a "holistically designed bike" mean a wookie in Birkenstocks wearing hemp meditated over the whole kit-n-k'boodle before assembly? (supreme to the writer at MC online for that line.)
