I was riding in downtown boston last night with a friend. My bike hit 209 in traffic and thats with the ebr ecm that drops it about 15 degrees. Soo hot hot is too hot for this bike? And whats the hottest you have ever seen on ur 1125? Side note my buddy next to me on his rc51 was pushing 240 |

You will reach your thermal limit long before the bike does! |

208 sitting at a light in Phoenix. Outside air temperature, 112. However, the part about you reaching your thermal limit is no b.s. My air temp indicator, heat of the bike, heat of the asphalt, and surrounded by cars: 154 degrees. I had to pull over and go inside the quick stop or burst into flames. |

Get yourself a camel bak water hydration system for the hot days. Keep pulling that water in and try to stay hydrated. It will help immensely. |

At 230+ the bike goes into skip-spark and runs like crap. I've seen 235 on a number of occasions. No long term damage to the motor. |

~215F this morning...get the snakeskin rubber grip for the frame so your thighs don't get baked. |

You will reach your thermal limit long before the bike does! Some may, but for those of us that are used to the heat the bike starts to complain long before I do. In traffic during the summer my coolant temp is 220-230F. I have noticed that any time the ambient temp is over 100 my bike does not run as well, it pings under load, idles poorly, loses power, and does not like to start. As a result, I just dont ride it during the day in the summer months. I stick to early morning or nights. Even at that it still complains. |

210..., stock anti-freeze, Mobil1, now running Lucas synthetic 20-50W. The Lucas will drop it a few degrees as measured with a pyrometer.(According to a buddy of mine, unsubstantiated on my part, but, I trust his word.) I used to run Engine Ice in a CR450F and a YZ400 I owned with good success. Thinking about switching out the stock coolant for the Engine Ice, see what that does. My last ride was a '99 Busa, was not as hot on the thighs as this thing....But riding in 100 degree weather is hot no matter what bike your on. |

Been considering the engine ice for my cr, anybody know coolant capacity off the top of their head? |

Slightly OT - I did a conversion, HP to BTU/Min. 146 HP = 6,191.5 BTU/Min. If you aren't moving, you're in the middle of it. That's why it's a hot ride. Physics I like the idea of a rear fan like the XBs... Z |

Pass on the engine ice and run distilled water with a bit of water wetter instead. |

I was thinking of engine ice also since it does get below freezing here in Michigan. However I thought I read here that engine ice does not have the lubricants added for the water pump seals. Is this correct or am I mistaken |

> I read on here that engine ice isn't > recommended don't remember why. To my knowledge, no good reason has ever been stated. Here's the original post where Anonymous, of dubious authority, posts "don't". http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/473852.html?1246469102 |

Jdugger is mistaken about the "dubious authority". The anony poster's qualifications were in fact verified and approved. "Ethylene glycol and propylene glycol play differently with different materials. Check the service manual. It calls out ethylene glycol specifically and there is a reason (a tested and confirmed reason)." |

> Jdugger is mistaken about the "dubious authority". Great, then what were their credentials? As has been stated before, sometimes "just trust me" isn't very convincing. |

Put Amsoil in my bike and it's been hovering around 90+ degrees around here for the last week. City driving, I never saw it rise above 190. |

Is water wetter a propylene glycol based coolant ? checked my bottle and their website but neither specify contents of the product. (IP I assume.) |

> Is water wetter a propylene glycol based coolant No. It's a water softener / lubricant. It provides only nominal anti-freeze properties, which is the point of using a glycol-based coolant. |

If an Anony poster is vetted by Blake or the other moderators than you can trust the credentials. If you don't trust Blake to be sure about this.. BTW I would say the credentials are likely to involve advanced degree in engineering along with access to Buell Motorcycle Company data. |
