Ok, I feel like a moron asking this, but what plug wires do I need for my 01 X1?? The wires that are on it are obviously wrong... the ends that plug into the coil had to be bent/smashed to make them tight enough to kinda/sorta clip on. I searched here, but from what I've seen I'm the only one dumb enough not to know. I also checked with my dealer, who told me that they could order the front wire but the back one is obsolete. Great... |

I don't know the part number(s) but I'm sure you can get them from Al at American Sport Bike. Will be much faster than ordering them through your local dealer. Or IIRC you can just ask for wires for Sportster 1200. They normally have those in stock. (Message edited by kalali on July 22, 2011) |

That's the thing, they're telling me at the dealer that sporster wires have different ends. I searched for them on American Sport Bike and nothing came up?? |

Sometimes Al does not list all the parts they carry so you could give them a call and ask. Or you can also try Ironmachine. I don't recall if they are a site sponsor or not. |

I have used car spark plug wires. Just get the short coil wire and a 16-18" one for the rear. I have a used set off my X1 that i could part with. I only took them off because another badwebber hooked me up with blue buell pro wires. I have gotten quite a lot of parts from badwebbers and have given parts to others "I" love it here. Let me know if you need them. |

Here is the problem. Those studs for the wires to slide onto are smaller than any others I've seen. Is this the coil that should be on my bike? Or was it replaced at some point with something that isn't quite right?

Ok, so the suggestion about car/truck or 1200 Sportster wires is no good then, right? The Sportster wires they have at my local dealer look like something that would connect to any old-school automotive distributor... at least double the size of the studs on this coil. |

I bought, and use, Screamin Eagle wires for a dyna - they were in stock and like 15 bucks or so. Maybe a hair less. |

I know the dealer gave me an HD plug wire when my front wire died without warning. I guess I mistakenly assumed it was from a Sportster 1200. It was an inch or so longer but I got by until I got the correct piece. |

these dyna plegs dont seem to have much 'extra' in them, not a lot of slop, or excess wire hanging around. fit great low cost at dealer = no waiting |
