Posted a post about this on the old school buell but thought i should post one here. ok im having major problems with my tail light.. every bulb i buy dont seem to stay snug in the socket. so it loosens up and i dont have break or park light. major problem since i dont have lights at all when i ride. I have replaced bulbs like 6 times this week alone. i can get it to turn on when bike isnt running and before i take off. Its on when bike is idle but when i ride it loosens up and turns off. if i have it connected and working i can wiggle it with my fingers to make it turn off. i tried putting electrical tape around the bulb metal part to get it a tighter fit but still dont seem to work. I stripped down the entire back end today to see if i see something weird or something and everything seems fine. any idea's on how i can make this light bulb stay put? im all out of options |

This sounds like a voltage/amperage issue. Check the manual posted here or perhaps someone with more knowledge then I know the correct limits you should be getting to the socket. Test via multimeter. I imagine you will find that you have a crossed wire somewhere that is pushing to much current into the wiring. |

It may be a problem with the socket. The spring behind the contact plate may be rusted or broken that puts pressure from contacts in the socket to the bulb. Also does the bulb filament blow when you put the brake on? |

It could also be excessive vibration causing the filaments to break. Is the taillight stock and in the stock mounting bracket? What is the part number of the bulbs you're putting in there? |
