Going to be there Sunday with my daughter in tow. Last year everybody was very nice and I was drinking somebodys beer and water. Can I bring my own or will they search my pack as I wont be parked in the camp ground? If I can't bring my own can I give somebody some cash for beer/water/soda? Happy to buy extra to share? I'd rather not be a mooch and really rather not paying $8 for a beer and $3 for a water.. |

There will be a Tip/funds jar in the shak..feel free to contribute to it as you see fit. The money goes towards paying for the campsites (NOT cheap), refreshments, and gas for getting the Luv Shack up there. |

I will also be there on sat. and sun. This sounds fun where would I find this said Luv shack? And would bringing the wife be cool? My brother Timbo Horton said there are a lot of great Buell guys that will be at the races, Is this where you guys hang out? This will be my first MotoGP race and being around some of the people from this forum would be nice. |

http://tinyurl.com/3jxgon4 The Luv Shack will be right above the green pointer. You will have to make a left on Perimeter Road, then the first Right to get to the Luv Shack. (Google maps won't let me set a mark directly ON the campsite) Look for the Buell flag and all the parked bikes. The Luv Shack gets LOTS of visitors in a day. Many folks stay in town and visit during the day. |

I'll see you guys tomorrow. I should be there by noon or so. I'm going to set up camp in the Archery Range campground, and then bring my chairs up to the Luv Shack and leave them there for the weekend. Jim Armstrong |

I'll be there this weekend, missed it last year. But always a fun place to watch the races, you never know who's going to stop by for a visit. Always a interesting group of Buell/Erik Buell Racing enthusiasts. See you at the track. |

Geoff was 8th fastest in practice according to Road Racing World: http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?artic le=45420 Geoff tweeted that it was a good start, but there is more to be found. KTM was 10th, but apparently crashed. |

just wanted to give a shout out to everyone @ the Love Shack last weekend. Thanks so much for letting me hang. It's nice when you have to fly out solo from Oklahoma & have a home base to hang with some Buell fans. Truly great people. |

Wow - that's all I have to say.... (or not) What an amazing weekend! The races, the people, the weather, the venue... We were so lucky to enjoy this time together with some VERY SPECIAL folks (!). Just now getting a moment to reflect on the weekend. Guess I'll start by thanking Erik Buell for taking time out from his VERY hectic schedule to join us for a surprise visit on the hill. I'm constantly impressed with how genuine he is, from the first time I met him (on the Cali ride, long before Al and I became American Sport Bike), to this time. The man is doing a bazillion things, orchestrating a company up from ground zero to producing a top 10 finishing bike in less than two years- that is insane! He must have one of those secret time-machines that give him 8 more hours every day. I want one of those... Geoff and crew - Thank you for a GREAT finish as you continue to collect data on the 1190! Considering the amount of seat time you've had on it vs. the years of tweaking on the track that most of the racers have had on their bikes, it really is A-MAY-ZING. May each lap of each race bring you closer to being one with it! Jerry - thanks for sharing the Luv Shak again and doing ALL that you do to make this SUCH a fantastic weekend for everyone. Pretty sure that my hammock hanging over the hill below the Luv Shak was the absolute sweetest spot to watch the races from, thanks to you! Kathleen - thanks again for your awesome Hawaiian hospitality - you spoiled us all! Eric - Happy Birthday!!! This certainly wasn't your usual track experience in SO MANY ways, but they're your stories to share if you want to. We love you and hope you and Cheryl have a great week together. Cheryl - you did it, girl! A solo drive, and LITERALLY never stopped for 8 hours... Thanks for all of your help up at the track keeping everyone well fed. The AMAZING CUPCAKES were exactly that - yummm... Tom and Glen (and others?) - thanks for keeping Al safe on the ride up (sounded like an excellent ride, as always) and your help in keeping the libations cold and flowing. Laurie (and Zach!) - thanks for your company driving the Light Shak up (4:00 am came way too soon, eh?) and all your help throughout the weekend. Hope you and Tom have a very special ride this week (btw, the kitties are doing great). Slaughter and Sunny - enjoyed seeing you guys, and hope you finish that flooring soon. Don't let it take over your lives!! Hey Al, I never get to thank you in public - As always, you always find a way to make things work out. But when you ushered us in at the entrance, I couldn't have loved you more... Totally enjoyed meeting some new folk and seeing old friends at the Luv Shak, Light Shak and E Shak corral... Erik, Shawn and Mariane, Jeff, Jim (both varieties), Nai, Tom, Curt, Chuck and Ann, Austin and Van, and EVERYONE that I met - thank you each for contributing to a GREAT weekend. The smiles and good vibes were in abundance all weekend long. If anyone was hungry or thirsty, or didn't have a good time, well it's your own damn fault! The success of the weekend can be measured in so many ways... by the race position, what was learned by the participants, the things that were accomplished, the ride, the weather, the smiles on the faces of the folks around you... In each of these areas, this weekend truly ROCKED. Wow - and that's all I have to say... (at least for now) |

You too, naiguy. I also have some pics I'd like to share a link up here or I could share by pm. Whatever works, I'm still grinning from the experience. naiguy, that was the coolest surprise watching the motogp race & you nudging me with a whispered tone, "look behind us....Erik Buell!" We were trying not to look like a couple school girls, but Erik freaking Buell hanging out talking to Shawn Higbee. Makes it tough to pay attention to motoGP when your sneaking a phone pic trying to get my signed shirt in the pic with Erik Buell. Great memories & good friends. Thanks again & I'll second lady asb's sentiments as well. (Message edited by Peyote on July 30, 2011) |

Mr. Honda . . . actually one of the sons. Quick-Shop, Iowa, middle of the night. He was on a dirt bike, I had an S1 in the back of the truck. He was riding a dual sport from coast to coast as best I could gather. He spoke no more English than I spoke Japanese. So . . I did what any good motorcyclist would do in the wee hours . . I grabbed the key and fired up Barney the fire breathing (read magazine articles about the bike for details) S1 Lightning. You are dead on . . . it's a very cool deal. Cooler yet is how genuine and enthusiastic Erik is . . . he just, still, wants to "just ride the motorcycle". Erik actually took a day off yesterday . . you guessed it . . to attend a Hare Scrambles. He'll grow up . . . but not for a while. |

By the way . . . and I probably shouldh't share this . . . Erik has more fun hanging out like that than most owners do. It amazes me . . even passing 25 years of watching . . but he LIVES and BREATHES this stuff. |

Well my line would be "I may grow old, But I'll never grow up". I guess the day will come when I open the garage door and I won't smile, But I'll be damn that it's not coming anytime soon. The guy I purchased my S1 from was 61, I guess I have over a decade to go before I sell it, NOT!!!!!!! |
