I turn the throttle about 1/4 to 1/2 and then it finally catches and takes off like crazy. I have had this problem a couple times before. Anyone have this problem? I do have the ebr ecm and fmf pipe, k&n. |

Check voltage on the battery and slack on the throttle cables |

This has happened to my bike several times. I usually lube the cables then re adjust them and its back to good. I would check the breather on the throttle bodies to make sure it is not restricting the linkage also. |

Dumb question, where do you lube the cables? Where is the breather? Just use wd40 or real lube, heavy duty tube lube? Do you want the cables tighter or more loose? |

Throttle cable rubbing bodies is what did it to me too. |

Breather tube is on the right side of the intakes and it pokes up through the plastic deal that fits over the intakes. You've got some sort of restriction or wayyyy too much slack in your cables(so much that the throttle plates do not open to 100%) Sometimes incorrect routing of the tube (if it falls down out of its hole in the plastic dingus) will bind the action on the throttle plates. The solenoid (a useless EPA farkle) is easy to unhook from the throttle assembly and will make the throttle action feel lighter. |

+1 - my money is on the breather, pop the airbox cover and filter off and take a look.. If the butterflies start moving almost immediately after you turn the throttle then your cables are probably OK (a couple of mm freeplay is about right). The breather sometimed interferes with throttle opening,, Of course you could just do a TPS reset before taking anyhting apart just in case... |

Initial problem sounds more like a throttle plate sticking, then releasing as the spring coupling winds up. Either way, pull the airbox and filter and observe the throttle plates while turning the grip. Remove the cable from the noid and the throttle pull will be much lighter. Make sure the vent line on the right side of the base sticks up 1/2"-3/4". Z |

Well i have taken the filter out, the butterflies seem to open right. I have to look around some more to try and find the breather. I did the tps reset and it did not seem to help much....thanks! |

Found the breather, looks normal. Now the tps is back to normal 2 to 100. Not sure how it rides but is probubly back to normal, well at least for a few days. |

The vent line is circled, the throttle bodies are covered. |

I had a problem with my throttle body plates sticking when my bike warmed up. I got the bike last March 2010 and the problem didn't show up until the weather warmed up in late May. They were replaced with updated throttle bodies under warranty. |

I have 12K on mine. My butterflies are clean as the day i got the bike. I ride it hard but keep it well maintained. I dont know how bad your response is but if its anything like mine was you really shouldnt be riding it...very dangerous. Of course I'm just speculating that we are having the same problem. Well wait a sec...if I shifted under 4K RPM and just putted along the throttle worked fine but anything over 5K RPM was an issue. So if u dont ride aggressively its not dangerous. I will keep you guys posted on what happens |

Mine had a throttle that was hard to turn when the bike was hot--a lot of effort and then it would turn more easily. Removing the noid and its cable fixed it. |

I had this exact problem on my bike. the bike had about 5K on it. I got the bike out of the garage after the winter and rode it down the road. I would open the throttle but the bike would not react. open the throttle more. then more . then more. when it got to around three quarters open the bike would take off. when I got to the speed that I wanted to go I would slowly close the throttle but the bike would keep accelerating. until I shut the throttle so much the bike would be like I had shut the throttle off. and the cycle would start again. I did find that if i rode it then let the bike cool. when I started it again it would be ok. took it in and it turn out that there was a problem with the throttle body sensor. however they said that the hole throttle body assembly had to be changed as told by HD. once fitted I haven't had a problem since so it sounds like you will get you bike sorted soon. |
