No it keeps stuff off the bike and you pretty good and it's illegal in some states and will not pass safety in most. These bikes are a challenge to keep clean. I swear it was clean and then it dirty again. I love my CF front fender. |

i like the look too as yourself, if not worried about rain (nether am i) atleast it will keep dirt/sand ect.. from hitting the forks if it protects the forks like the 98 s1 fender does. |

only reason why i want a front fender , isnt because of the rain ect.. just i live in a real sandy area , sand all over, gets in the fork seals i gotta keep getting out with seal mate :P |

if you like the look than F#$K what we think. and on that note....I like the no fender look. gives it more of a cafe racer feel. mines on because i live in a rain forest and we get 152 inches anualy of rain a year, so it comes in handy. NO its not Seattle. |

I'd imagine it would look awesome, but I hate messy fork seals. I ride my bike in all weather because it's so damn reliable, fast, and economical. Because of that, I KNOW I'd get sand up in my seals. As it stands, those little plates on the sides of the fender are incredibly effective. It honestly surprises me how clean the forks are. |

The only other forks I have experience with were leaky BLAST forks. They gathered sand like crazy. But I guess that was because of the leak. Oil is sticky after all... |

Fenders keep the crud off. My XB12STT has a Uly style beak, but not the lower fork shields and rear front fender. I'm considering ordering one now that I've ridden in the muck. I didn't intend to ride in the rain either, but over a hundred miles from home it wasn't an option:

I had a Yamaha YZF600R I used to ride w/ no front fender. It looked cool, but the rooster tail it would shoot up in the rain (or when forced to ride through construction runoff on the BQE... yuck) turned it into a pain in the ass. |

If you ride without a fender, your fork tubes are unprotected from rocks on the highway. |
