I put the LED brake light on a 2008 1125, and now the ACC fuse keeps blowing. Not right away, and sometimes it can go a week, and then it blows.

I had to clip off the plug of the LED brake light and I had to crimp on new connectors so that I could hook in to the stock connector of the 2008 1125. My theory is that maybe those are touching when the bike jiggles around and that I should put some electrical tape around the connections, but they looked fairly sturdy.

Anyone else have this problem? Or have I over looked something obvious?

I've got to think there has to be another issue.

Don't LEDs draw quite a bit less current for the same light output?

they definitely should have less draw. are you sure you didn't wire it incorrectly? or something is touching and blowing the fuse.

Take a look at your license plate light connectors and trace them back. I think they run on the ACC fuse.

intermitant short to ground... only thing that could be blowing the fuse like that... if you have bare connectors they MUST be insulated otherwise the second they come anywhere near a ground (frame) they will short

The electrical tape did the trick. It must have been rattling around in there and bumping the frame.

Rule of thumb - if you can see metal...DON'T TURN IT ON.

It will find a way to go wrong : )
