Can anybody at the track tell me what happened to Danny in the final DSB qualifying this morning, AMA Pro racing doesn't show him in the final grid? Never mind, think I found the answer. His 1:29.723 from yesterday was the fastest, so I think it slots him in the first row third place for the starting grid, but it's funny the final qualifying doesn't show him at all. Triumph just won their first road race since Willow Springs in 1969. Former Buell employee takes over as CEO of Triumph . . Triumph starts winning races . . I don't know . . you make the call.

1 minute horn just blew . . . riders will be taking the grid for the Daytona Sportbike race. . . I'm here at the start finish line and we'll see if Danny appears . . 30 second horn just sounded. Danny is on the grid . . he was qualified #1 yesterday so he did not appear at qualifying today. He's in the 3rd position on the front row . . right in front of us. |

Suzukis are boring bikes; they can put you to sleep in a hurry. |

I wonder now if Danny didn't wish he was still running the 1125R in the DSB races. He seemed to have better luck on his Buell. |

Triumph just won their first road race since Willow Springs in 1969. Former Buell employee takes over as CEO of Triumph . . Triumph starts winning races . . Apart from winning at the TT Supersport race a few years ago. Oh and winning more than a few British Supersport races and a couple of WSS podiums for Chaz Davies last year. Triumph were winning races all around the world well before the ex Buell employee took over as CEO at Triumph USA, you just didn't notice. |

That may have been directed towards winning in AMA or for in the US. |

>>>>you just didn't notice. And the announcers and television all got it wrong as well. . . . drop them a note and post something on their forum. I suspect they meant in the USA . . I'm not sure how serious Triumph is about really racing . . . but they have a neat crop of current bikes and I confess to an infatuation with the old ones like my neighbor restores.

I suspect they meant in the USA . . I'm not sure how serious Triumph is about really racing . . The Triumph factory is very clever when it comes to racing. They have a policy of not running a factory team and having no direct involvement with 'privateer' race teams, so don't get any criticism when the bikes don't do well and have no expensive race department/ream to run. However, when the 'privateer' Triumphs win races the factory take full advantage of the publicity that generates, such as their TT win a couple of years ago Apparently it was Triumph that pulled out of their support for the Parkingo 'semi official' WSS team at the last minute at the beginning of this year, forcing the ParkinGo team to switch to Yamaha (and have dominated the series ever since!). They do support the one make Daytona 675 race series in the UK and the Street Triple cup run at selected WSB meetings though. |

Having met Danny a few times the last couple of years I found it hard to believe that he over slept. He is way more professional than that. Can you share the real reason Court? |

My impression . . . . from sitting through the press conference . . . (and based on his answer to that question) was that he was qualified #1 after the first qualifying session on Friday and there was no need to subject him or the bike to another qualifying session. Two folks, in the Saturday session, beat his qualifying time and he ended up in the 3rd position on the 1st row . . not a bad place to start from. I think that's all there was to it. |

I find Danny voluntarily sitting out any kind of session under dry conditions very hard to believe. That boy likes to ride first of all and I don't think he or the team would believe his time from Friday would hold up. He may not have overslept, but voluntarily sitting out during a qualifying session doesn't register. |

Nice thing about it . . . is it's not like it is Madonna or Barack Obama . . you can pick up the phone and call him. No clue. I was in the press conference, reported what I heard. |

Mid Ohio position 3 or 4 gives you a better start more times than not. Less pinched going into 1. |

I for one keep a (not so) secret hope that RMR will be one of Erik's newest customers, I'd love to see Danny step up to AMA SBK on one of the Elves finest! It would be awesome to see several riders on the 1190RS!! |

Me too Fuzzz. I'd really love to see him turn a few laps on it in testing this year with May back to back. Curious too see if his touch that he had with the 1125r over everyone else that rode one transfers to the 1190rs. |

Danny E is the funnest rider to watch hands down!!!! If he ended up riding a second 1190 it would be awesome! I hope to try to meet him at laguna and tell him I watched every race the year he rode the 1125 and only watch dsb this year cause he is in it! Court,I remember waaay back in the last century, around 1998 or'99 there was an AMA class that was singles, twins and triples competing against each other I can't recall what the class was called(thunder bike?)I think they were limited to 100HP. There were Buells,BMWs,Ducatis and Triumphs.I remember the headline on my American Motorcyclist magazine "Triumph Wins At Daytona",it was a T595 Daytona(955cc)and was the first Triumph to win at Daytona in 30+ years.Of course there was the Thruxton Cup that was all Triumph Thruxtons,my personal favorite. |

I would love to see him get a shot at AMA Superbike aboard a RMR prepped 1190. But he is not the only reason to watch DSB...it is the most competitive and "funnest" class in the world of racing...hands down". |

Danny's Boss is Richie Morris long long time Buell fan. I'd say if Danny did go Superbike... Richie would love to see a E-B-R 1190RS in his trailer to race. But I think the politics envolved around him using a Suzuki and what Suzuki does for there team E-B-R may not be able to match. |
