So yeah, when I left work for lunch today, I felt the engine to be sluggish. My 100 mph was barely 60 and in no gear could I get any real torque. A quick examination revealed that three screws were missing from the top of my carb. I made a quick patch-fix and got home, now I need to know what size screws go into these holes... |

Click my link, go to my yahoo group, there is a parts manual for educational purposes, see the rear of it referencing the part number for screw specs - lol EZ |

They are the same size as the float bowl screws and probably metric. Sorry, I know the size is actually posted here, somewhere, but I cant find it. So, if you can, pull out a float bowl screw and match it up (or the other top carb screw ) I just replaced a stock set with allens on sunday, and them being the last ones I had, I need to stock up. But that wont help you today. |

I checked the parts reference I have (2005) and it didnt list the carb screws. I'll check my others, but they should be the same. |

they are metric. they are the same size as the float bowl. 4mm w/ .7 thread pitch. they are not the same style as the float bowl however. the top cap screws are shoulder screws. the length is 12mm - 16mm. only one is actually longer, it has a brass sleeve instead of a shoulder. |

glad to be able to give back a little. i just replaced all my carb screws with stainless allen heads after stripping the phillips heads off a couple of the factory ones. so i'm recently familiar with this particular item. p.s. if anybody needs that brass sleeve, the harley shops charge $2 each. pps...might as well call me mike. i'm really only father to my daughter. |

Thanks Mike!!! PS The screws can vary with the carbs. While the thread pitch is the same, the styles can vary. Some carb tops dont use the brass sleeve, some have the sleeve built in with the bolt. They also come in black and brass. But swapping them all out with allens is best! |
