My cluster on the race bike went poof. Well, actually, it's just been shaken to death. I refuse to pay the HD price for that thing -- might as well get something that's more functional and purposeful to my application. Anyone use any of the after-market clusters like the vapor, or (gasp and the price) Starlane? All I really need is tach, oil, temp and fuel lights. The race harness is only 9 wires into the cluster, so should be a piece of cake to hook up. (Incidentally, did you know a bike runs just fine with the race ECM only and no cluster attached at all?) Suggestions for models to check out welcome. |

I have a Veypor VR2 in addition to the stock gauges on my XB. It is easy to install and easy to use. The big bummer for me is that it is nowhere near waterproof, I totally killed mine within a year of using it. I bought another one to put on my 1125R, it is physically mounted but I haven't hooked it up yet. I like it in addition to the stock gauges as it gave my XB things like the gear indicator and accelerometer, but due to its lack of reliability I cant use it as a total replacement. Out of the box the unit will not have oil lights, turn signal indicator, ect, but they sell an addon that gives you that functionality. |

Frank, where's the HUD? Edit; Btw, your pipe is done and should ship tomorrow. (Message edited by d_adams on July 04, 2011) |

It is discontinued, but you can get a SportVUE HUD system that ties into the Veypor. Yes, I have one

> i went and looked up the starlane. nearly fell outta my chair. Yea. It does a lot more than just typical cluster stuff, though. |

J of that i have no doubt i poked around a good bit and honestly for a self developed stand alone product. that's not a bad price and honestly for the higher end models they have a real bargain. still in yet WOW |

I have a Starlane GPS-2 laptimer. It's a pretty incredible little device. |
