The thread is older, so I thought I'd make a new one and plan to update this a bit in the next 45 days or so. So I made a thread about two months ago about going to Rockingham for the AHDRA race and my motor started pinging and wouldnt run but for about 20-30 seconds before shutting itself off. We were hoping it would be a lifter or pushrod. It wasnt. Checked rockerboxes, everything looked fine. So off came the heads and cylinders, the front rod didnt seem right. Then out came the motor and to the engine builder - Jims in High Point NC Well I didnt get it to him until two Fridays ago, last Monday he called me to tell me what he found, and this past Friday I went to see for myself and talk about 'the plan' The front roller bearing went, and went bad. The cage for the bearing is nowhere to be found. The small rollers in the bearing are about 1mm longer than they should be a have right (90*) angles instead of being round cylinders. This messed the crank pin up, toasted the thrush (hope that I said that right) washers, and messed up the front rod. Oh, and send metal all over the place including into the cylinders/pistons. So..... New wiseco pistons are getting orderd. S&S rods are already on order. And then everything else associated with the problems. Im in talks with a board member now about some Andrews N6 cams. The plan is to have the motor back at the house to install the cylinders/heads/rockers etc (Easy stuff that I can do to save some money on labor) and then hoping to have the motor back in the bike in about three weeks, by about the 20th or so. That is in hopes of having it fired up, making sure there are no leaks and then taking a trip to PA to have Bruce Conenberger tune my bike at Shaeffers HD. Bruce and his brother Brad are both multi-championship holders with the AHDRA. He is truly one of the few people I'll ever trust with tuning a EFI Buell, and the price is quite right. Then it'll be off to Bristol TN for the AHDRA race at the beginning of August. |

Call them and ask them, I THINK that racers get a LITTLE bit of a break. I THINK thats what he said, but I am not 100%. But if you have EFI and ECMspy, he's the man to see. He's tuned all three of his brothers Firebolts and his brother is a front runner in all of the classes that he runs (I think he runs in four or five classes and has several championships so far). Bruce Cronenberger, speak to him, super nice guy who actually knows what he's talking about. When I started to think about having my bike tuned, no one else really came to mind |
