Has anyone seen wear on the belt like this. I think It is from rubbing in the two spots on top of the swingarm. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix? Belt is "scary" loose.

Check the rear sprocket and the front
it looks like surface wear

I've tried PM and it doesn't seem to be working. If you could email me any Class 101's that would apply to 2001 x1 lightning that would be great! My email is michaelclem1@gmail.com
Thanks,
Mike

I'd say since the lower belt guard and rock deflector have been removed that you picked up a rock and it damaged/nicked the rear pulley and the burr it made is whats cutting the grooves in the belt.

The rear pulley has a chrome coating to make it more durable than just bare aluminum.
Once that starts peeling away, it will eat the belt.
Chrome plating is sharp stuff when it starts flaking off.

i had something like that once. ended up being a small chunk of something stuck in the pulley tooth. the belt will hit it on a different tooth every time around. check em both real close

**edit- scary loose is normal**
