Can anyone send me a file with the full race map eeprom, or at least the race fuel & timing maps, that I could just upload with ecm spy? I finally started trying the ecm spy software I got for my S3 last summer, but the only x1/s3 race maps it appears to contain are an "epr"file-which I cant open or a"txt"file-that I can open/see, but can't figure out how to load. I'd just manually enter that data into the eeprom and upload(after saving mine), but my orig eeprom has more data boxes than the race data in the txt file...specifically the 3rd set(blue)boxes where mine has 5 lines of 16 boxes and the other shows only 3 full and 2 partial rows. I changed the a/c+exhaust and don't want to dull my jethot header by running it lean. Any help would be appreciated. |

Ok, I got the race eeprom loaded into ecmspy but when I go to "burn eeprom" it tells me the eeprom is not compatible with my ecm. Does anyone have a race eeprom file they could send me, that would be compatible with a 1999 ecm? |

You have to burn the maps... Then save the new eeprom. When u burn the maps it changes the eeprom |

In Ecm spy on the eprom tab what firmware version do you have it must match the one fetched from your ecm? Let me know and I might have one for you. |

What 01x1 said. No need to burn the .epr file. Just burn the maps. |

Bosephus, I think that is my issue. I have V1.12.26 On the Eeprom tab it does not give a firmware version. How do I know the version of the text file eeprom I have? |

Much easier to burn maps then save eeprom.it takes 2 min. |

Can I loan the maps from the text file? and then obviously burn them? The error message I get is "Failed to get firmware version ... exiting now." |

In the ECM maps folder, I only have 2 files the 2000x1.epr and 2000x1.txt When i backed up my maps it created a .msq file. So, I'm assuming map files have to be in this format. I am very confused. Any expert advise for me out there? |

you should be able to load the eeprom correct???? when you have it loaded click on MAPS theen click burn maps... you have to type yes then click continue.. once you have the maps burt to the ecm you can save the eeprom file..this will work i did the exact same thing to my bike..... i would also open up two ecm spy programs to compare your stock maps and the new maps... just to make sure that the new one is infact different. |

01X1, did everything you suggested and it worked - ONLY now it won't run!?? I Warmed it up to 160+, reset the tps, set afv to 100, confirmed the race fuel&timing maps were different than what I had, and loaded+burned them to my ecm. Something is off or wrong. It'll fire right up and quit right after. Beyond frustrated, I walked away yesterday but I'm about to go check diagnostics or re-load my original maps to see if I can get it running again. |

I burned my original eeprom back to the ecm and it fired right up and runs well. Did a few low rpm miles and re-connected it to check. No trouble codes, AFV was up to 106, eng temp was right at 160', and much as I was concerned it would be too lean, it didn't seem to be. I don't know |

If it were me I would just leave it alone and ride. Or get the .msq files and load those. AFV of 106 is well within acceptable range. |

Kalali, whats an ".msq"file? Far as leaving it alone- believe me, I'd like to because this ecm mapping stuff is not my thing...Im only messing with it because after changing the a/c+exhaust, I was worried It'd be too lean with the original maps. |

The fuel/timing map files are in the .msq format and the EEPROM files which are either .epr or .txt. AFV is usually a good indicator of whether the fueling is rich or lean. Your fueling is fine if you maintain 106. Anything above 110-115 then you may consider a richer fuel map. I personally prefer richer mixture specially in summer. Seems to make the motor run cooler. |

An old thread but I'm hoping someone will still take a look, like Brubry maybe. I am messing around with a 99 X1 with an open exhaust and intake (kurakyn I think). It's a friends and he dropped it off with his laptop and ecmspy cable for me to try and get running. It will start then die right away. I think the eeprom is wrong? Does someone have |

Hi there guys I have just got myself a 2001 X1 Buell and this is my first post (and yes my first Buell). Its a great bike however there are a heap of maintenance items I have to address before I go on a big ride. I'm a machinist so most things are straight forward, however I was brought up on carbies, not ecms I'm hoping that you guys might be able to help me with one thing in particular; I have the latest version of ECMSPY and got a cable. I have fetched and backed up the EEPROM file, done a TPS reset, set the static timing and read all the tuning guides, as well as some of the posts on this site. It's starting to make sense, and I will be tinkering with the tune using process 2 in the guide to start with. However I can already see that dual wideband sensors is the only way to go, or perhaps I just take it do a dyno tune bloke while I mod the map in situ. Either way, I think I'll get there a whole lot quicker and easier if I can get a full race map to start with in .msq format and tweak that to suit (I think the latest version of ECMSPY only saves in .msq format by the looks of it?) Can I ask that someone here send me a copy of a full race or modified/tuned map. Only mods are a K&N air filter and staintune can. |
