K, not sure if this has been done before or in one place. There are so many 'theories' as to why these things are burning out/ failing. Like most I am tired of hearing another tale of a failed stator. We all have ideas on fixes and such but just when a new idea is tried someone else shows up with it failing. I want to compile a list of the following. Make a new list covering the following as it was when your stator failed. If it failed multiple times then make multiple lists. If it has never failed please fill in the list. I will separate out '08's but still want the info. Maybe.... just maybe we will find a trend we are all missing? 1) Year 2) Model 3) Air filter type 4) Oil type and weight 5) ECM 6) Harness upgrade Y/N 7) Regulator 8) Exhaust system 9) Average length of ride 10) Average voltage on ride 11) Number of times starting bike on average ride 12) Average Core Temp on ride 13) Average Speed/ RPM on ride 14) How often are you at parade speeds. (stuck in traffic) 15) Fuel rating used 16) Other air/ engine mods/ electrical mods. 17) Mileage before failure Just make a list of 1-17 and fill it in. 1. 2009 2. 1125CR 3. OEM 4. Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w50, HD Syn3 5. OEM 6. Yes, after 1st stator failed @5500 miles 7. OEM 8. OEM 9. 20 minutes 10. 13.5-14.4 11. 1 12. 170-185F 13. 32 mph @4000-8000 rpm. 14. never, but stop at stop lights. 15. 91 16. denoid, resistor. 17. 1 @5500 miles, 2 @8500 miles Second time, the relay from harness upgrade failed, but the dealer didn't find it out and replaced a stator, rotor and a VR. I replaced the relay and everything is working fine so far. The stator may have been good second time, but the dealer replaced it anyway. 1) 09 2) CR 3) Factory 4) Amsoil 20w50 5) Factory* 6) Harness - Yes 7) Factory 8) Factory* 9) 45 minutes highway 2x per day - commute 10) 13.8- 14-1 11) 1 time per ride 12) AM 172 degrees - PM 190 degrees 13) 75 MPH 4200-5000 rpms 14) 2-3 minutes a day (ID check at gate going on base) 15) 91 minimum 16) None. 17) 4200 mi / 10,000 mi / 12,000 miles * Three stators @4200 miles, @10,000 miles and @12,000 miles, 2 rotors (10k and 12k) and a R/R (4200) have been replaced under warranty, all with factory parts installed. Latest Stator has lasted 2500 miles, with E B R ecm, and Barker exhaust. All 2500 came LAST WEEK as I rode from California to Texas via AZ/NM with daytimes AT @ 115, and CT@ 200-210. 1) 09 with 2010 engine 2) CR 3) OEM 4) 09 motor had amsoil 20w-50, 2010 has the stock harley synthetic 5) Erik Buell Racing with stock exhaust 6) Yes 7) Oem 8) Stock 9) 60 miles one way (commute) 10) 13.7-14.1 11) 2 12) in the summer (190-200) in the winter (170-180) 13) 80mph/6000rpm 14) only at stop lights (5-10 min per ride) 15) 91 chevron or shell 16) Hid kit from DDM tuning (low beams only and 35w) 17) engine currently has about 4000 miles on it, hasn't failed yet. My first engine went out at 2300 miles, got a new 2010 engine. |

used 08 no issues had dealer print the vin# just the clutch cover fix. No stator failures. 6700 miles currently. |

08 1125, 25k+ miles. No issues with stator or V/R. Multiple exhaust systems. Amsoil 20w50 after initial break-in period. |

1. 2009 2. 1125CR 3. stock air filter 4. mobil 1 20w-50 v-twin 5. ebr ecm w/barker tune 6. has had harness since brand new 7. oem 8. barker pipe 9. 30 min 10. anywhere between 12.3-14.1V 11. 1 12. 170 winter, 190 summer 13. 74mph @ 5000rpm 14. never 15. 91 16. denoid, ambient temp moved to airbox, hid high and low, 2010 led tail, led tag light. 17. 6500 mi. my regulator failed first, went up to 15v and fried the entire charging system. melted all the connectors together and shorted the stator windings. |

A better answer on the rpm - I have a mostly a freeway drive, but the morning is normally at or near 5000rpm. The afternoon probably "averages" about 3800/4000rpm.
