I noticed today after filling up that there is a tube mounted on the inside of the back left passenger peg. I am assuming this is the tank breather tube. Well its leaking..drip drip and it is like expelling gas fumes. Not too safe in my garage. WHAT is going on? Im very concerned Ive had the bike for a week, first time its done this... Could I have put too much gas in. I filled it up right below where the cap sits. |

Well ive calmed down a little haha. I noticed the gas tank is boiling and since its full im assuming that is why the breather is dripping. I just took the cap off to let it vent that way as well...? Good idea? It should stop leaking right? |

Must run bike only when ambient temps are below 75 degrees. |

Just do what I did.. Install a power vent in the garage ceiling it will get rid of the fumes.. |

it's normal. you can insulate your frame, but it'll still warm up after 15 minutes of riding and make it drip. you can get a 'california' model emissions carbon canister to route it thru, or just let it cool down out side the garage and then bring it inside. |

Unless you overfilled it, it isn't leaking. Gas fumes can build up in the tube, and as they cool down can condense back into a liquid, and thats how you get a drip. |

Be careful cracking the cap loose and leaving it loose with a full tank... I did this at a gas stop to keep it from pissing out the vent tube and the fuel expanded enough it started overfilling out the fill hole and running down the entire left side of the frame and pod... |

It's very common, when new to the XB/1125 platform, to overfill the gas tank. Experiment with different fuel levels when parking in the garage. Make sure you have the latest ECM firmware(aka "flash") revision or an Erik Buell Racing ECM. Use high-end FULL synthetic oil. Red Line, Amsoil, Lucas, Mobil 1 etc. Both these are aimed at cooler OpTemps... Leave the garage open for an hour or two in the Summer. I gotta go close mine, BRB. There are plus' and minus' for any design. Fuel in the frame has enough advantages, for me, to tolerate the heat and fuel issues. Loretta never has been a stinker or dribbler. YMMV Z |

It's normal. I have a catch bottle under mine (as required by track/race rules) and a touch of fuel cell foam. It will sit there and just gurgle at a stop. |

This happened to me as well, I also leave the gas cap slightly open as to vent the the gas tank. It does seem to help out, I was told a while ago that if you call harley and tell about this problem they might be able to help you in acquiring the charcoal canister aka california model. If not you can try and purchase it from harley and i think they run around 50 bucks or so. I'll have to do that when i get back. |

There's a lip inside the fuel cap. Do not fill it to that lip; leave half an inch to an inch of space below the lip. My CR - even with the shortened vent tube (passenger peg brackets removed) - doesn't drip a drop. Fill it too full...and it'll pee on the floor. |

on my cr when i moved the hose to the sidestand switch housing and started filling up at the beginning of my rides instead of after i get very little drip if at all, people dont tell me i have a leak at stop lights anymore. pretty much just deal with the fuel smell, just crack the garage open a little |

Get the Buell california evaporative emissions can. It will dump that stinky fuel into the can and suck it through the throttle bodies when started. The dealer did mine for free. |
