So, I take the bike in for the 12k service, I was planning on going on a trip all next week. Thats not happening. I got the extended warrenty also. So, Its in the shop, I pick it up, and its sieving oil after less than 10 miles of riding. I take it back, they take it in, look at it. Bike gets delivered back to me Wednesday (after 2 days in the shop). I take it for a short ride... a drop or 2 comes off. I ride it to work the next day and holy jesus BP oil spil under the bike. They pick it up, take it back. Should i demand a rental? |

Sure, you can get a rental paid by extended warranty, if it's a warranty job. I just used this incentive and rented a Fatboy from the dealership for 2 weeks. |

I bet They didn't get the Valve cover gaskets seated properly. Having just done mine The rear one is tricky. Working on a 1125 is not something that should be trusted to 99.95% of H-D service depts. It's hard to work on modern sport bikes when your used to chrome plated 1930's tractor motors. |

the thing is that place is supposed to be one of the better places for buell work so this is definitely not like them |

I just did a warranty work at Oakland HD, and I won't recommend them anymore. Next time, I'll try Dudley Perkins or Livermore. Oakland do have rentals for $75 a day. They are also fast and have most of the parts in stock. (Message edited by yugi on June 25, 2011) |

I have a similar issue, monterey hd is doing the work in salinas. They've been responsive, but you have to remember that the warranty is seperate. Have the shop report the issue to warranty so you have a case number, then call warranty to notify of intent for rental, its a reimbersement deal of $75 a day up to 10 days. Santa cruz gave me a loaner back when I bought my 1st 1125r, monterey sed no way on a loaner. |

Not sure if this is the problem, but it's real easy to not get the rear valve cover gasket properly seated for the 12 and 24K service. Happened to me twice at the 12K service. There was a very capable Master Tech and Buell trained technician doing the work and he took it personally. (Message edited by spectrum on June 26, 2011) |

George at Monterey HD got it fixed. Then on the ride home I lost the spring to the kickstand. This bike is more and more like a HD every day. :P Wonder if warrenty covers the spring flying off? |

ya i lost my spring about a month ago and it was covered by the warranty. you can use velcro to hold it up while youre waiting for the replacement. i have mine zip tied now so i dont lose it. planning on using safety wire when i get the chance. |

Chess, How do you plan on safety wiring the sidestand spring? I don't know where or how they break, but if there's a way to avoid out-of-town aggravation by safety-wiring it ahead of time, I'd like to know about it. |

my guess is the spring itself is holding the clip and the spring onto the stand. if the spring's hook either slips or breaks, the spring and the clip are gone. so basically you want to put some safety wire on both hooks to keep it from sliding off. then safety wire the clip to the kickstand so that if the spring hook breaks, you can keep the clip and can easily replace the spring. also it doesnt hurt to bring some velcro with you so that if it does come off while on a tour, youre not shit out of luck. hey crabbycakes, i called oakland HD and told them about the kickstand and described the missing parts. they ordered it and i took it in and they installed it. |
