And how poor is your handling compared to stock? |

dont forget the stretched swingarm. and since its off the bike might as well make it chrome. also since the swingarm is chrome, might as well put chrome on the other parts as well. maybe put some chrome skulls and flames on the bike. make sure to add the calvin peeing on something sticker for full effect. lastly, dont forget to wear the proper attire, wife beater, shorts, flip flops etc. |

I'm not a baller nor do I want to be one, just heard a 200 will fit within the swing arm and I don't think it would handle that much differently for me. I'm not a hard rider I don't ride on the track and I dont corner to the limit of the bikes ability. |

I'd stick with the 180 myself. I like the way it handles as it is. The 200 isn't even a full inch wider and the profile will go all out of whack on the stock rim. (Message edited by d_adams on June 24, 2011) |

spikes, gotta have spikes Okay, so you don't ride hard and don't think it will upset the handling for you. That leads to the next question - WHY? Looks only? That's our point, when looks > performance, you probably have the wrong bike. (Message edited by sprintst on June 24, 2011) |

Hey Swoop, I'm running the Metzeler marathon 200/50/17. On the street it works fine. I just ran from Dallas to LA and back 3,300 plus miles with zero issues. From the looks of it I'm guessing I'll probably get aprox. 7 or 8k miles out of it. But I'm very aggressive on the throttle. It worked great in the rain at 70+ mph too. I don't know if high speeds affect wear that much but we were traveling between 80 and 90 mph most of the way. This is the reason I put a harder compound tire on my cr in the first place. I wanted to make the whole trip without having to make a tire change. BTW I already had 2000 miles on this tire before we left home. As far as handling, left to right transitions have slowed a bit. But for me at least on the street, it's acceptable. (Message edited by redbat on June 24, 2011) |

> spikes, gotta have spikes We actually had a guy show up to a track day with a tricked out gixxer including stretched swing arm and spike-covers on every fastener. He didn't seem to understand the safety risk of the spikes, so I finally told him I didn't care about him, but I had to look out for the others on track. As he was active duty military, and I have a soft spot for those guys, I just loaned him my B bike and told him to take it easy. The thought of that thing he had on track was nothing short of scary. |

Chessm, I understand where you're coming from, but with my abilities and sense of preservation, I'm cool with it. I'm 54 and don't plan on finding the limits of traction in the curves. At my age bones don't break, they shatter. |

Beyond the obvious power differences, one of the greatest advantages of the 1190RS over the 1125 is it's ability to change directions at speed. The 1125 is marginal at best in that area and leaves a lot to be desired at this task. So now stop and think about what happens when you try and roll a larger cross section tire from one side to the other at speed. The larger size also adds weight mass and rolling inertia that you might be trying to turn in a different direction. But if you live in one of those parts of the country where the closest twisty road is 300 miles straight up a interstate, your lengthened swing arm looks cool and helps your ET at the drags, I suggest you "Go for it." The nice thing about this country is you can do what you want! (Message edited by buelldyno_guy on June 24, 2011) |

thanks dean and thanks redbat for an actual answer to my question. to the rest of you if I wanted chrome I buy a harley if I wanted some flashy I buy a chopper. I will always support buell. there's nothing wrong with making a great bike better. obviously you guys don't think a wider tire would do that, and thats cool. I'm not doing anything to impress anybody else there is no reason for that. |

Ryan Sorry, I didn't mean to put your idea down, I was just thinking about the difference between a Suzuki Bussa and a GSXR is more that the 300cc. One is Fast, Real fast in a straight line. Bigger wider tire, longer swing are equals lower ET or more top speed at Bonneville. However the GSXR or Yamaha R-1 are the bikes to beat on the track because they do so well changing directions at both slow and high speeds. |

All else being equal, a wider tire is more prone to hydroplaning. I would stick to 180/55. You aren't going to get more miles out of it, all you get is a lighter wallet. |

To say somebody bought the wrong bike is just wrong in itself. That said, I've seen here, Anony recommendations for a 190 on the OEM wheel. Do what you like, FTW. With a 180 or 190, this bike will eat up a track or twisty. With a bigger/harder tire, this bike should eat slab miles like a school of piranha eats a cow. Not as cush as a Busa, but overall just as fast and with a more personal "in your face" feeling. I've made a couple of long trips on Loretta and the 1125R is a good touring platform using cheap panniers. Z |

Swoop, a bike is a personal expression of you. If a 200 tire makes that bad boy look wicked in your eyes than go for it. I doubt most would be able to tell a big difference unless they race their 1125 or ride it to the edge on the street, if you don't, I think you'll be satisfied with the handling. I had a 2000 ZX12R when they were 1st released with a 200 tire that I thought handled great for a bike that big & heavy. I know guys that put shorter swingarms, superlight wheels & tricked out suspension components on their's to enhance handling. I went with a 6" over arm and was one of the 1st to go with a 240 rear tire setup. I really expected the bike to completely be a bear to ride down a curvy road but was really surprised at how it handled. It wasn't bad at all and when the road straightened, the turbo came on boost & the nitrous button was pushed, 300 plus horsepower was a thrill to experiance as it seamed to distort time & distance, but at those times I was glad to have the extra rubber and 6 more inches of swingarm length. Plus any distance the shorter bikes put between us in the curves disappeared quite rapidly! Oh, I'm 57 now and that was a few years back when the stretched & slammed look was just starting to become popular, now every other Busa looks like that or more, some with over 300 tires. To each his own bro! |

I went in the middle and got a 190 I havn't noticed a diffrence in handling. I dont ride on a track, just on the street am by no means a great rider. Just the average joe motorcycle riders opinion. |
