I drained and added oil to my transmission, now it is spluginh out of the crank case vent hose and making a mess!!! I added just under a quart, but that seems like not to much oil? |

Do you mean the tube that comes out near the starter motor and goes up the tail? if so, that's the tranny vent. Your crank breather is found coming out of your heads. The crankcase seals go on these bikes and then the pressurized oil from the engine side squirts into the primary, causing it to act like it's overfilled. Is your crankcase breather OK? If that's blocked, pressure will build up and do the same thing. |

Sorry it is the tranny vent! And the breather tubes coming out of the heads are free and clear. |

Where did you drain it from? |

+1 One where did you drain it from? I have accidentally drained the transmission thinking it was the oil in the motor. |

How much did you drain out? Was the bike level when you drained it or leaning toward the side stand? |

Well I re-drained it today and let it drain for some time. It was leaning on the side stand. I added just a little shy of a quart, so we shall see what happens. |

Blake, Exactly... Don't go by the volume you put in, go by the level. Look in the derby cover with the bike LEVEL. The oil should just touch the clutch basket, no more. |

IIRC the FSM calls for 28oz. If you put closer to 32 in and there was already a couple oz's that didn't drain out, you probably just over filled it. Like others said go by the level, with the bike level. |

I will recheck the level again. |

...with bike upright and level, not on rear/swingarm stand or sidestand. Otherwise problem. |
