happily cruising along on my CR, grabbed a gear and went to pass a semi-truck on a 2 lane road, halfway past the truck the bike shut off, the hazard lights came on and "tipped" message showed on the gauge. got it to the side of the road, bike started back up and worked fine for the rest of the trip to SLC for the superbike races. bike has race ECM installed was an interesting 30 seconds to say the least any ideas on what would cause this to happen? |

From the Electrical Manual "If the signal from the BAS is below0.24V or above 4.79V, the ECM sets a code. A BAS code will not disable the vehicle and the engine will continue to run. A tipped vehicle will not set a DTC. Located above the ECM inside the left radiator shroud." P1151 BAS shorted low P1152 BAS shorted high If there are no codes it could be the BAS acting up. If it happened once, I wouldn't worry about it, but if it is reoccurring I would replace the BAS, or bypass it. |

Pull the left shroud. Top left is the BAS, it has 2 hex-head screws holding it(6 or 8mm?) - is it tight? Is the electrical plug tight? If yes, remove the BAS and rock it, does it set the flashers off and shut off the fuel pump? BAS - 32-36 in-lb Shroud - 80 - 88 in-lb Z |
